Law Texas Abortion Law allowed to take affect by Supreme Court

it's a good choice by Texas. allowing women to murder the unborn is a crime any way you look at it. if you're gonna be so damn promiscuous ladies, use a condom even if you dont like it.

except the supreme court disagrees when it comes to this law.

No it doesn't, they said the issue was procedural--they didn't actually rule for the law, they just said "couldn't" rule against it.

Basically they found a loophole that allowed them keep the law without out-right overturning previous decisions.

i'm so confused. so lefties want the govt to have mandates on our bodies (vax, mask, etc) but also to leave their bodies alone?

The flipside argument works: The conservatives want to have autonomy over their bodies (vax, mask etc) but want to tell women what they can't do with their bodies?

Blaming women for this?

This post sounds like a Taliban wrote this

Oh wait, GOP is the #AmericanTaliban

So all the people only for aborting rape babies, does the woman have to house the fetus until the trial is over? What if the trial lasts longer than the pregnancy? Do we kill the newborn?

kinda, not so much. a time limit was already in place as status quo and generally accepted. this is merely a change on time, not bodies.

Don't be silly. An unreasonably strict change in time. The next most strict state based on time is Mississippi at 22 weeks. 22 weeks to 6 weeks is a massive change in time.

Imagine you are a woman and find out you are pregnant at 5 weeks. You have 7 days to decide, schedule and go through with an abortion (if that's what you decide). Does that sound like a reasonable amount of time?

*whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh*

look, genius. i'm not in favor of the law (nor am i in texas). but that's not the logic that was being discussed. it's factually a matter of time. whether you think 6 weeks is acceptable or not is moot.

it's not like people wouldn't just go to a neighboring state for the gagortion, anyway.

edit: "The next most strict state based on time is Mississippi at 22 weeks." - this is laughably false.

You said that it was "merely a change in time", implying a minor change. It is not a minor change and it's unreasonable to expect someone to make such a huge life decision in a matter of days (or less) after finding out about a pregnancy.

You're right, it's actually 20 weeks not 22 weeks.

holy shit, you're quoting me while then saying it means something entirely different than what i said.

by merely, i meant it was about time. not body. because that was already status quo. the only change was.... time. it's as if i already said that, or something. fucking derp.

dumber, like 15 states have 20 weeks... so it's not like there was one state at 22 as the minimum, as you stated.

there are also various states with heartbeat (ie:5-6 weeks) shit with varying degrees of legal status.

Abortion has become too precious to young women in this country. The law doesn't even say you can't get an abortion.

At what point does the law say a woman can no longer get an abortion?
And at what point did the Supreme Court in Planned Parenthood v Casey say a woman could no longer get an abortion?

I feel like you're proving my point.

I feel like you're proving my point.
If your point is that the law is blatantly unconstitutional and the people who wrote it and voted for it are insufferable assholes, then yes I was.

Its okay guys, you have 6 weeks to get an abortion even if you are raped

The law was clearly created by men.

"Your body, my choice"

If there’s charges then the exemption applies.
