Elections Fishy Fishy California Recall

You dont think that an ID should be required to vote?

See, that's the genius of this.

On it's face it seems so logical and lets people ask questions like you just did, while completely ignoring how these laws are being surgically applied to suppress specific voting blocks.

It also ignores the fact that voting fraud is incredibly rare. Why doesn't that matter?

So....no then. Gotcha

I don't think laws that target and suppress a specific voting block should be put in place when there is no evidence they will reduce fraud, especially when there is no evidence that fraud exists.

You clearly feel rigging elections is perfectly fine and don't really care about fraud one way or another as long as it gives your team an advantage.

The conservative point of view is shrinking in America and the GOP in Texas is on tape admitting that the more people who vote there, the less likely they are to win elections. They passed twelve laws restricting mail in voting, and admitted if one of those laws had fail to pass, they would have lost Texas. Bottom dollar: The more people who vote, the less likely they are to win.

This probably just seems like smart politics to you.

Ok, Ok bud. I gotcha. You DONT think an ID is needed to cast a vote. Sounds like a great plan. <Dany07>FYI, I dont have a side. But no ID sounds stupid as hell

Are you going out of the way to ignore the nuance here?

Poor, black citizens are less likely to have ID.

If it's so important, shouldn't the first priority be to make sure every citizen has free ID?

“Ike Turner is running for Governor of California, why won’t people vote for him?”
Oh, and what party would that be? Just keep turning a blind eye.

A blind eye to what? Keep running shitty ass people for Governor and President and you might have a chance at winning. The fact you are shocked a black man might lose in California and yet fail to realize he’s a POS really tells me a lot about you.

Yep, they have 3 more years to get it

And Newsome isnt? Right. You must like the do as I say, not as I do type?

Not a huge fan but if option B is a POS who thinks poorly of minorities and women I’ll take option A. Like I said but you didn’t want to listen, run someone who isn’t a POS and he might win.

But is that to get a particular ballot or is that to have your vote tallies automatically once the election begins?
On a particular ballot, when you get to the computer you can elect an all dem or all republican ballot. So for example it will automatically cast your vote for all republican or all Democrat. I don't know if thats the case here, but i can see an 80 year old woman hitting the button and not realizing it.

Also, when you register in some areas you can fill out a replacement ballot on site. If she also filled this out, and then went to go to a machine it would show that she already voted.

But again, like someone else pointed out its a somewhat big assumption on my part that she and others would make a mistake like that and not realize it. Or that the people on site wouldn't have realized it

Guaranteed the California recall system was constructed by republicans.

This should tell you how low the bar is for rightist chuds around here on so called election fraud. They do nothing but bitch about how California is overrun with leftists/democrats, yet when a democrat is winning an election there they yell fraud.

Great.

So seeing as this is happening in conservative districts, maybe conservative lawmakers should get on that instead of just making it harder for their constituents to vote.
Harder how? An ID? Cmon, you need to show an ID to buy a pack of firecrackers. If someone wants to be able to vote, an ID isnt to much to ask. In fact, a vote in person, with an ID is how a vote SHOULD be cast.

I've already explained the situation.

This has nothing to do with fraud, and everything to do with suppressing a cohort known to be light on ID.

If you want firecrackers you don't need ID, all you need is a friend with ID. The same goes for most purchases.

I can't speak to why they don't have ID or if they can get it or not. This is about putting unnecessary hurdles between citizens and voting. It's hard enough to get Americans to vote in the first place, making it just a little more difficult pays dividends.

So, a non-partisan move to make voting more secure (despite the complete absence of evidence of fraud) would be to first get ID to everyone.

That would completely subvert the motive for ID laws, so it's never going to happen.

Yes, the word of an 88 year old talking to her friends is scientific fact now. Lol.
That's what I was thinking! The article literally is going off of a 88 year old Republican woman's random claim about her friends & ballot box neighbor. This may have been one error and a whole lotta embellishment, or maybe there's some fuckery going on, but this article fails miserably in providing an argument for there actually being fraud.

How many elections do the democrats have to steal before you guys wake up

Sounds like you are an expert. How many elections do you believe the dems have stolen? Do you have any facts or is this just one of those times where we just make up stolen elections and blame the other side?
