Opinion Where do you draw the line on gun regulation?

A cannon is impractical in today's society. There's a reason we don't use them anymore. Also the idea that they could cause anywhere close to the same damage as a nuke is utterly ludicrous. It's a primitive device from an earlier time.

lolz @ backpedaling all the way to nukes and the stupidest strawman i've seen on here in ages: "same damage as a nuke"

yes, utterly ludicrous, indeed.

wtf are you rambling about? are you on bath salts?

and lolz @ primitive. you're so clueless you don't even realize we still use them...

You keep contradicting yourself. It doesn't matter who mentions nukes, the question is what level of weaponry should citizens be allowed to own. That extends all the way from basic knife to nuclear weapon capable of leveling a city. Stop dodging the question.

Wow, I didn't realize it needed to be spelled out for you like a child.

You can not get certified in "nuclear weapons training". You are likely breaking laws just trying to attempt to gather the supplies to make one.

These reasons alone directly cross "the line" you asked me to outline.

This indicates you support the current regulation re: nuclear weapons and contradicts your other posts.

Dude, I don't even know what point you think you are making. You're going to have to spell it out for me.

all guns and grenade launchers should be legal but any explosive stronger than a grenade should be illegal for civilians.

We don't NEED. But the Second Amendment isn't about "need" - shall NOT be infringed

When was the second amendment written?

Is America THAT fucked up that we require an AR15? What the fuck?
an AR 15 or any 7.62/300 blackout caliber rifle is definitely necessary for security reasons if you live in a metropolitan area there are videos of 4-6 people invading houses on youtube armed. only to be chased away by the single homeowner firing off a rifle or a pistol even.

i literally already did.

ffs, you argued that cannons are less efficient than rifles (lolwut), then called cannons primitive (?????????), and then rambled about nukes.

you can't even follow your own posts.

It’d be nice if there was wasn’t a surplus of guns out there that are non registered.

Slightly Off topic: hate to say it but I have a unique take on guns. If it was up to me, all guns would be banned and sucked up into the air via giant magnet. Not even criminals in America would have them.

Being 6’ 1” 210lbs with 20 years of BJJ/wrestling/MMA experience.... I’d automatically be in the top 1% dangerous humans in America.
some 5'4" manlet would still be able to kill you if he was good with a sword or battle axe if guns were gone. some 5'5" mexican ganster killed a 6'2 guy here because he stabbed him with 3.5" gas station knife he didn't even need the gun.

the same time as the 1a, which only applies to quill pens, amirite?
Yeah, fuck it. I'm just going to sit on my doorstep polishing my musket in my red coat.
Bunch of archaic bullshit.

So, that's you in your avatar?

Do you support the current regulation re: nuclear weapons? All I'm asking is where you draw the line. This shouldn't be so hard for you to answer.

If cannons are so efficient, why aren't they ever used to commit crimes? I don't think you thought this one through. You also haven't addressed the thread topic.

I'm asking where you draw the line at what civilians should be allowed to own. Knives are at one end. Nukes are at the other. Surely you have a line somewhere in between those two.

Why would you want an AR15?

To Compete for one, like I did for 17 years.
We Americans have a long history of National Shooting Competitions using Service Rifles.
For a time it was similar to a civic duty before it became politically expedient for one political party to weaponize the demonization of the things as a power play.

I believe every adult should have to do 2 years national service before the age of 25 to obtain voting rights. And yes, I know that was a fascist theme from the Starship Troopers book, but I am serious.

People studying advanced degrees can get deferments. Women can reduced enrollment by one year for each child she has. Disabled people can do some fotm of citizens services, and obviously severely disabled people are exempt.

Once you have been honourably discharged (or had your 2nd child, and completed a gun safety course), you have both the right and responsibility to a longgun. Somewhat similar to how it works in Switzerland. From there you can apply to expand your license to include handguns, shotguns, ect.

Parents can loan their weapons to their children to train with, as long as it doesn't leave the parents' sight.

Buying any guns or ammo require a passport or driving license, and a certificate of gun safety awareness.

As far as what to own. An AR15 level black rifle seems like a good upper cap. I'm indifferent about round limits as it is quite easy to 3D print a drum anyway. L

Somone breaks into your house to hurt you, what do you do?
What type of weapon do you think is best to defend yourself ?
Police will be there in 10 minutes if you are able to call....thats a looooot of time.
While an AR may or may not be the best option pending preference, it is a good option much like shot guns or some pistols. The nice thing about an AR during this particular situation, is 30 rounds with no reload. Thats important.

I am OK with any amount of regulation short of outright banning. Go all the way back to single shot muskets for all I care. I also think regulating people is less productive than regulating the companies and the production. But between all the state and federal combinations and permutations, I don't ever see it being anything other than the complete clusterfuck that it is. Perhaps in a century or 2 there might be the collective will to revisit 2A.
