Elections Newsome Keeps His Governorship-- Results Not Close

Waste of time and money. Now Newsom can get back to working for his people. Let's hope Elder disappears. What a total embarrassment to his people. Glad saity won out

Still won't be as bad as Texas

Texas's problem is not power generation. Their problem was power lines failed due to a 1 in 100 year ice event. Texas has South Texas Project 1 & 2, and Comanche Peak, which all stayed up and generating during the cold freeze. Pro Tip Texas... start burying your power lines moving forward.

California fails on a regular basis if it's too hot, because we must purchase significant power from out of state Arizona and Nevada sources. With the soon to close Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant Units 1 & 2, after the closure of San Onofre Units 2 & 3. Californian's already bad electricity deficit will get even worse... and we are pushing for all electric cars. What the Democrats are doing on Energy is so retarded it hurts to think about it.

LA could of announced before the election don’t think it matters. Dems would vote to keep Cuomo if they could.

lol I saw that coming from a mile away I think he will make sofi stadium and all the CA stadiums not have fans again like last year during shutdowns. when NFL and MLB teams start leaving the democrats will be like"I dIdN't KnOw ThIs WoUlD HaPpEN"

Enjoy the NorCal blackouts that will be very prevalent after 2024 when they close Diablo Canyon. All those electric cars... won't be going anywhere.
Is there really grid in the US/Can that can handle all of the expected electric cars expected by 2030?

Charging speeds/infrastructure really need to improve as well. I travel a lot by car in normal times, often 500 to 700km per trip. Imagine the lineups, wait times, and burden on grids at rest stops for the many vehicles that make the same treks, especially trucks with goods.

anal swab card to enter restaurants coming in october.

For anyone that likes this person, what are his qualities?

Any time I hear about him, it is related to things I don't like. But, I also don't live in Cali so I'm not his target voter.
California had a budget surplus last year and don’t take welfare from the US government. Hell 40% of Kentucky’s budget is welfare from the US government.
I don’t like deficits or welfare queens. So that is 2 things I like about California and so should others who identify as fiscal Conservatives. I should not be surprised since most hard core Trump voters give Donny a pass on his trillion dollar deficits pre Covid.
The day I realized the GOP was full of shit was watching Donny cutting revenue and increasing spending his 1st year.

Elon Musk is going to save the day.

The brainwashed racist Dems did everything possible to keep a successful person of color our of office who would expose the deep corruption. Nobody is shocked….

Racist Dem’s love the born rich white elitists. They aren’t smart and don’t know any better…
The brainwashed racist Dems did everything possible to keep a successful person of color out of office? Are you kidding well over 80% of African Americans voted for Newsom and against the recall.

Been here for almost 30 years, Lived in SF. Grew up in Hayward, Oakland, Castro Valley, and San Jose.

Also Lived in Dublin/Pleasanton for a while. hbu?

Alameda. Heaven, really. Got relatives all over (ones I'm closest to live in Walnut Creek and the city) and lived in the city for a bit.

Fair enough. That means Californians don't give a shit about the state or themselves for that matter. They have no one else to complain to in the future.

I remember the 2003/2004 recall that lead to Schwarzenegger becoming governor. Why does California keep having these recall elections? What prompts them and how do they work?

You have lived in California 30 years then you should know damn well a right wing Trump loving extremist Republican like Elder didn't have a chance in hell of even being competitive in California. The CAGOP should take this as a lesson for next time run a candidate who is actually suited for winning an election in California.

California is the easiest state to recall an elected official:

1. almost any elected official is subject to recall

2. Recalls do not require a specific reason

3. Signatures required for recall petition is low (Newsom recall petition required only 1.5m votes. Not much for CA)

4. Petitions are allowed to circulate for a long time

Basically - a well funded recall effort in California can take a long time to get a relatively small number of signatures & still succeed

As California has become more blue & the GOP has become more right wing, the GOP has very little chance of winning the Governorship in a regular election. Therefore, if a Governor seems vulnerable, a strategy to force a recall can make sense. It’s the most likely path to power for the minority party.

The GOP was betting that COVID would get worse & Newsom would become less popular. They guessed wrong but the strategy itself was not crazy

dean cain would have done well.

I doubt that.

Cain and Sorbo are nutters, Arnie brought people together.

We need more moderates not more Qs or tea party 3.0 candidates.

And I say this as a tree hugging democratic socialist.

Bring me some Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhauer, hell even Arnold level candidates who are serious about protecting natural resources, regulating military industrial complex bloat, investing in STEM education nation wide, and putting the conservation back in conservative and I'd happily vote for em.

Faulconer is/was the Republicans best candidate atm. Outside of San Diego though he’s not really popular. He needs to do some serious campaigning if he plans on running for governor next election.
