Ngannou is 285 pounds. Gane is going to the dream realm.

He's always big. He weighed 263 against Stipe. Prob was in the 270s fight come fight time

dude can walk around at 260 for all i care i wouldn't bet against him

I guess that means Francis thinks he needs to stop Gane in the first or second round.

Gane is obviously more technical, but I dont know if Ngannou and slow can be in the same sentence. The guy has some serious fast hands
Well I would give him a 7/10 for handspeed. Above average but nothing special. He has great reach and accuracy and natural timing rather than high speed imo.

I couldn't write a more Sherdoggery title than that. I remember reading almost the same thing before Izzy vs. Costa. "Durrr...Big Muscles! Big!!!! So stroooooooooooong...hurr hurr, can't...lose!" Sherdog will never change.

Imo its a mix of imense power, timing, speed and volume
If Gane can take him down, his chances go up.
My feeling is that gane will need a perfect fight or he will be droped
I dont see him droping Francis on the standup, maybe if hes dead tired late 4th or 5th
My predicition is Francis by tko r2

Shit, going by that logic Bob Sapp is a future UFC HW champ

That was crazy dangerous … every time I see it again even after so many years I cringe …

I hope Francis lays Gane down under a beautiful plum tree where Gane can spend his days sipping iced tea and playing with butterfly’s as he enjoys himself in the shadow realm.
Whoever wins this fight on 22nd January I can tell you one thing with almost absolute certainty :
Ciryl Gane will still be around in the UFC, winning fights, long after Francis Ngannou has gone.

I agree that grappling could be important in this fight but I think it's Ngannou who will be looking for the takedown when he realises he is getting pieced up on the feet. With Francis's touch of death punches definitely Gane has very little margin for error, at least until Francis starts gassing. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Gane get a TKO in the later rounds, on a slowed-down Ngannou sloppily hunting the KO. I predict Gane by UD but Gane by TKO is also possible.

Francis is bigger. Winner confirmed.
I do put some weight into that, pun noted. Ngannou did get Stipe down in the scramble and come up on top, that was the most interesting element to that rematch for me. And when he did this he landed damage with a flurry of hands to the side of Miocic's head. It seems like Ngannou is learning somethings about grappling that could make him a lot more dangerous. The only question that arises then is that of his gas tank coming in very heavy and planning to work offense thru scrambles and seek top control.
The other thing I'll note is that Stipe landed a really good right hand that stumbled Ngannou as he was walking in prior to the knockout. Gane can and will absolutely be catching Ngannou with things of that sort, and be more evasive in his movement than Stipe.
If Ngannou is the much heavier fighter coming into this, I think I do have back my tune on my prediction and favor him for having more ways to win.

Yeah, I don't buy that N'Gannou is 285, hes not putting on 20lbs of muscle in his mid 30s when already jacked and on great supplemental nutrition systems. Fans are dumb. Unless hes bulking fat and cutting water because he thinks being that heavy vs Gane is an advantage, which is a joke...Gane is the movement based, defensive fighter with good cardio, Ngannou wants to be light going into this id think.

He did put anything on, he was always 275-280 comes pre cut.
Dude cuts weight... so...
And the 5-10lbs difference is easily the added fat he must carry when out of camp.

Hell I'm only 205ish and I can fluctuate 5lbs in days if I eat more fat/sugar/salt with water retention.
275+ is nothing exceptional for a man his height/frame with so much muscle/bone density.

Btw he did an interview with DC a few weeks ago where DC said he was 280lbs and Francis nodded so, unless you know his weight better than the man himself...

Yeah but Ngannou has the biggest power in MMA history, not some overrated power llke Costa has.

Ngannou kills people. Costa doesn't kill anyone. He has to put a barrage of strikes on people and make them quit.

Ngannou basically ends you within a dozen landed strikes.

That was more about Miocic coming in 15 pounds of muscle lighter at 230ish lbs that Francis being considerably bigger ( he was also huge for the first fight ).
But N'Gannou coming 275+ + Miocic barely being 235 + takedown being attempted while Francis is still full of gas + Francis better grappling compared to first fight = Stipe getting sonn'ed and thrown to the ground like a potato sack...

But Gane is bigger than Stipe, and will be even bigger than usual.
According to himself and his camp he has been doing specific strength training 4x a weeks for like 6 monthes now, to reduce the strength gap so I think we can expect a 257/258 lbs Ciryl to show up.
If he did so without if impacting his speed and cardio it will be very interesting.

he's not 285

I expect him to be just south of 260 for this fight.

And added mass isn't necessarily better past some point.
Law of dinimishing returns, especially when you have suspect cardio like Francis

Here are his recent weigh ins:
253 vs Lewis
254 vs Blaydes
258 vs Cain
255 vs JDS
260 vs Rozenstruik
263 vs Stipe

He doesn't cut weight, he loses some during camps. He had to cut weight for the first Stipe fight because he did have a real training camp.
