What? Alex never fought in muay thai dude, he came from kickboxing and boxing before transitioning into MMA.

Sergei vs Jones isn't the fight that the 'die hard fans' want to see, it's a fight the die hard jones haters want to see. This is Alex Pereria all over again just at HW. In fact that's an insult to Alex, because Alex really is a marvel at Muay Thai. Sergei is just another explosive youngish HW.
We've been here before. In the ridiculously and historically talent-thin HW division it never took much for a decent puncher with heavy hands to rise to the top fairly quickly. I remember when Shane Carwin was doing the same, I remember when Junior Dos Santos was doing the same. Hell if you go back far enough there was a time when motherfucking Todd Duffee was doing the same. That's just the nature of the division.
Now this isn't to say that Sergei is bad, he's just nothing revolutionary. His hand-speed is above average, his footwork is meh, and his chin aint all that. Now in the joke that is the HW division, all of that is more than enough to rise to the top. But lets not pretend that this is some new boogeyman challenge that Jon or even Cyril Gane hasn't seen before.
There is a reason that Pav fans don't want him to fight Gane and it isn't the reason they are telling you.
3 of the 4 guys you named held belts of sorts. The other is Todd Duffee. Why does someone need to be revolutionary to be a problem?Sergei vs Jones isn't the fight that the 'die hard fans' want to see, it's a fight the die hard jones haters want to see. Pav probably is the best wrestler in HW division as well. Khabib has trained with him and said he has amazing wrestling, plus he has a wrestling background in russia, which si 10x more valuable than having a wrestling background in USA.

Is all nice and dandy, but just yesterday i read that he was at AKA, and Daniel said his wrestling is bad....
I love your AV but what kind of response is this lol.
LOL!Same dudes who thought Johnny Walker would dethrone Jones because of 'length and athleticism'.
Well where's Johnny now?
What is this thread about? If "Jones haters" are the ones who want to see it, that's obviously because they think he'd likely beat the champ. If the highest ranking contender is on a 6 fight win streak and would beat the champ, that kind of sounds like champ material to me.
What's the argument against it? You think the top ranked contender isn't good enough and instead we need a 41 year old part timer who's been KO'd in 2 of his last 4 and hasn't fought in over 2 years?
Why would he have to? He's the top contender right now on a 6 fight win streak while everyone else in the top 5 are coming off losses.I'm saying if he's as champ material as you say there should be no reason he can't fight Gane.
Why should he have to fight another contender? He already KO/TKO'd three top 5 fighters all within the first round in less than a year. Who else has done that in recent memory? Say what you want in terms of of who you rather see in a title fight against Jones, but Sergei is absolutely the most deserving to be in a title fight for his next bout.I'm saying if he's as champ material as you say there should be no reason he can't fight Gane.

Do you know anything about wrestling? Kyle Snyder has 3 Ivan Yarygin gold medals, that's a all Russian tournament where wrestlers from each republic of Russia compete (Ossetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Sakha, Ingushetia, Kabardia etc) and then invites are sent out to a few international guys. That means they literally ran the gauntlet of the best Russians in their weight class. David Taylor won it as well, Dake got silver, Americans often medal at this and again...to medal at the Ivan Yarygin means you ran through many of Russias best wrestlers.
Russia is the best at wrestling for sure, but often times top Russians lose to US, Georgian, Iranian and Japanese wrestlers among others. 10x better all this shit, you sound stupid.
