News Chris Weidman is back against Brad Tavares at UFC 292

10 years later bud

No flukes happened. The better fighter at that point of rheir careers won. Silva had nothing and went into desperation mode with his antics and lost

2nd fight was a one sided ass kicking until the leg break.

Time to let it go
This.

Chris has two wins in the last 8 years and one in the last 5 years. To be fair, he's mostly fought guys near the top but that's still pretty rough. I wish I didn't check.

You co-sign nonsense. Silva met with Father Time and USADA as Chris met with Father Time and USADA. Beating the tail end of a magnificent run doesn’t make you better than the fighter at the tail end of that run. Just the better man that time. Being as even today Silva would beat the dog shit out of the battered remains of Da Chris what are we saying here?

This is really the perfect fight for him. The match makers did good with this one.

I just realized every dude Chris has lost to, has left the UFC except for Reyes. Hell every dude he beat left as well except for Gastelum.

He is hard to take down but some people overrate his TDD. He hasnt fought that many wrestler but when he did faced guys with good TDs, he got taken down. By Omari, Theodorou (RIP) or Romero who took him down 7 times.
That said, who knows what Weidman is capable to do these days

Yeah I also remember Romero throwing him around like a puppet. Yoels wrestling never looked better than in that fight.

Silva wouldn't survive one round with Weidman today. Are you high?

I view this as a really bad comeback fight for Weidman. Tavares has pretty solid TDD and cardio. Weidman may be able to be competitive standing, but I think he'll try for takedowns and gas himself out.

I will never understand how Silva lost to him lol. I've rewatched the first fight not so log ago and Chris was gassed into another dimension starting round 2, got all his takedowns easily stuffed and was basically just a standing slow plodding forward puppet for Silva to play with. Silva could've KO'ed him like 50 times with all those missed punches and leaving himself totally open at Silva's range but dumb dumb decided to toy around lol. Rogan was saying how terrible Chris was and how Silva was toying with him and bam. Dude ended Silva's career and went on to get KTFO 10 times in row, such a shame...
Yea, Silva really fumbled the win on that one. Chris was getting his legs eaten up as well. The thing is Silva had the same thing happen against Bonnar. When Silva dropped his hands to bait Bonnar he got tagged a few times. Bonnar’s power just want enough to make Silva pay for it. Silva getting ko’d are his in fight habits that finally caught up to him.

Always rooting for my boy but I am not even a little confident in him winning fights at this point.

Too bad because i feel like Chris at his peak could have beat Izzy

Yeah, when I first saw dude grapple Andre Galvao and NOT get subbed, I was like “Pay attention to this dude.” He showed great skill in the octagon and then his career just plummeted, he’s not the same man anymore.

Combat sports are unforgiving.

If some is gonna retire Chris Weidman, good thing it is an awesome guy like Brad Tavares

I like the matchup, Weidman gets a name in his return, but not someone incredibly dangerous. I could see this being a decision either way.

you literally can’t point to any moment in the 4 rounds they fought where silva was winning or looked good. Give it up.

silva in his most focused and “serious” form got dropped within 40 seconds of standing with wiedman ffs.

Tavares by low kick beat-down.

Or, Weidman by fake illegal knee disqualification.

It totally worked lol. It was even way worse than Forrest, thats why Silva was toying with him like there’s no tomorrow. He had basically a gassed, smaller version of Forrest missing punches in front of him with « 0 threats ». Go and rewatch the fight, Weidman tried to take him down like 3-4 times starting the second and got stuffed and was done. It looked like a little 3 yr old boy trying to punch his father, missing the target and his father mocking him for that. Weidman went on to miss like 50 punches leaving himself totally open to get KO’ed at any time. But instead of even throwing a punch Silva decided to take his mockery to another level and paid the price. Karma is a bitch, Silva shouldve taken it at least 1% seriously and would’ve easily beaten him. That was the easiest fight situation he ever had!
Lol, you go rewatch the fight, Weidman is a significantly better fighter than Forrest all around, wrestling, sub grappling, striking power, striking skill, distance management. Weidman rocked Anderson in round 1 on the ground and had 2 submission attempts after that Anderson started taunting to goad Weidman into a stand up fight cause he realized the gap on the ground was big and he was in danger of being finished.

Anderson was taking the fight seriously, his only chance was to get Weidman to forget about the grappling and get him to overextended and land a big counter shot, it never happened and Weidman actually tricked Anderson into weaving g into his left hook by throwing the backfist before it because Anderson has a pattern of dodging left, right, left or right, left right and Weidman mixed up the pattern which cause Anderson to weave into Weidman's best punch, the left hook.

LMAO, Wediman was outstriking Anderson even before he KOed him, the only thing Anderson had going was some low kicks. Anderson landed less than 5 head shots the whole fight. They fought twice and Anderson nearly got finished in the first round both times and was never ahead at any point in either fight.

Weidman has been beaten by a whose who. Matter of fact eenie meanie miney…. You get to whoop Weidman to sawdust. Yeah Silva got beat at the end of his mma career but Weidman is being besmirched. There’s levels to ass beatings and this next one he may surpass T Ferg as the most whooped ex great fighter
