Islam Makhachev reacts to UFC ranking Jon Jones as the No. 1 p4p. "This is bullsh****

People still questioning Islam's win over Volk?

Y'all gonna stay miserable forever, damn.
They're still mad Khabib beat Tibau.

Some are even saying Islam will lose to Charles in the rematch.

They really think that posting something enough times on here will make it true. Unfortunately for them, forum posts don't change reality.

Who considered gane a some kind of number 1 contender in what world you would say you beat this guy and you are undisputed champ

Is there someone else who'd be #1 contender?

Who on here loves Islam Makhachev?
Anyone?

I really do, but I get the feeling that most people on Sherdog root against him.
Is it his association with Khabib? Is it his nationality/religion? Is it that he beat everyone's favourite fighter in Oliveira? Other?

I really miss @Ackmed  I could always count on him.

I like him just fine. I do like Charles more, but, this isn't about disliking Islam. And how could he have beaten everyone's favorite fighter? He's beaten Volk, Charles and...Bobby Green and Dan Hooker. I doubt he's beat almost anyone's favorite fighter at this point.

Islam narrowly defended his title against a 5'6" featherweight. Jon Jones is a 205er for life, moves up to HW, immediately beats the top guy available in dominant fashion.

It's not that hard to make the argument, even if both are compelling.

Well technically he has a point....

If his fight against Volk was for the p4p no1 spot and he won, how does JBJ get it?

I'm guessing Jones was out of the rankings at that point due to not having fought in three years?

And then once he comes back, how do you deny the #1 spot to the guy that's never legitimately lost a fight, has set all sorts of records, and was champion at two weight classes?

I thought the pounds meant something, thus Volk above both of them.

You still need to win, though. If Volk had won the fight at 155, maybe you could make that case. But he went up against someone who weighed the same as he did (okay, .5 pounds more), and lost. You actually need success at multiple weights before fighting at multiple weights means anything for your P4P ranking.

And how could he have beaten everyone's favorite fighter?
I was worried that my clumsy wording might go misunderstood.
I said "Everyone's favourite fighter in Oliveira" just meaning that he (Oliveira) is very beloved by many fans. And people likely would dislike the man that stopped him and ended his title reign.

I personally don't know how to rank those top-3 guys.

Volk seems like the best, most complete fighter in the world to me. So he has a claim.
Islam just beat the #3 and #1 p4p fighters in consecutive fights, so he has a claim.
Jones is the undefeated GOAT (if you don't personally DQ him for the steroid stuff) and just moved up and won a second title. So HE has a claim.
Very tough one!

Makhachev has 1 really good win and that's Oliveira. Well Volk too but that was a super close fight and you can't really get p4p fighting a guy from a smaller weight class. Only guy in the top 5 he has beaten is Oliveira, only defense was a really close fight against a 145lber... Is that really p4p #1 worthy stuff?

I think the general consensus was that Volk only had that spot because Jones was inactive.

Not that I think P4P matters, because it's nothing more than an imaginary/fake list that is laughably subjective.

It's the same bullshit where Khabib got ahead of Jones briefly because he asked for it as his retirement and Jon had recently vacated. Khabib got to be #1 even though Jon had just won 4 title fights in 14 months, even before discussing all his previous work. That was Khabib's entire reign except he by contrast took 30 months to do the same feat.

Everybody knows as long as Jon keeps winning you can't actually have someone else as #1. He's been #1 in his weight classes since 2011. Most of these guys were only debuting in 2011, if even that.

I can't call someone a p4p no 1(not that I think Islam is either) when they ducked the legit HW champion and is a likely career PED cheat.

Islame failed a test my dude..... so the only thing you can hold on to is "hE dIdNt DuCk FrAnK"-BY
Wasn't the suspension lifted? And Islam not found at fault?

Just confirming my own understanding as I hadn't known he'd failed. But even if he did, Islam's failure would be a drop in the pool compared to Jones' failures. Isn't he STILL pulsing?

Dominant fishing like FIX

Jones completed and won a second belt. He’s been undefeated for many years.

iskam has 2 ranked wins. It’s a no brainer. Jones outclasses him in p4p lol
And on peds from beginning of his career but lately got over confident and was getting hot on tests

Jon winning the HW title is the definition of P4P though.

Islam struggling with a FW is the opposite.

Not really the definition but I understand the point. P4P is supposed to mean if everyone was the same weight and their skills translated to that weight, who would win. I'm just saying it's a silly, theoretical discussion like kids have. Who would win in a fight, Batman or Spiderman? lol
