If Nicholas Meregali can transition into high level no gi competition after a lifetime of competing in the gi then Gordon should be able to make the switch. Meregali also took some L's in no gi and is clearly still learning.......and I don't think Gordon is willing to be humbled in order to perfect a different part of the game.

The gi is pretty dead from a spectator stand point. He already has all the acclaim he would get from winning a Gi worlds or similar and gets paid to fight instead. From all accounts he is good, just not world class in the gi.

Guys don't realize he isn't just butt scooting and heel hooking, he's mounting dudes and suffocating them (an ultimate top position sonning control move) until they give him whatever position he has in the box that he decides before the match even starts.

To call Gordon Ryan nothing but a butt scooter is ridiculous. For BJJ he's probably the best no go athlete in every position. He isn't gonna out wrestle all Americans but his top control and pressure is absolutely insane.

Difference is Gordon is making way more than Israel was in KB, and he's also achieved more than Israel did.

He's got no reason for doing MMA short of him wanting it.

Unfortunately he is that good.
Not a fan of Gordon, but he is good.

People are crazy to think that he would have any need to transition to MMA. He makes big money with his BJJ.

Maia and Jacare have multiple golds in ibjjf and cbjjo. Bjj, strictly speaking, Gordon never podiumed. He's got tons of nogi golds though.

Yes. He's that good.

Most of his matches against the best in the world he brings a sealed envelope. He then submits his opponent, then he opens the envelope right after the match and shows everyone that he wrote down which sub he wanted to finish with.

He is not a butt scooter, he and Roger Gracie are the best of all time in jiu jitsu.

He make a lot of money doing something that he is the very best at. He has zero interest in getting punched in the face, now that the ADCC is set to sell out the T-Mobile arena. The UFC likely does not pay as well as his other business ventures. Yes, seeing him in MMA might be really cool, but he'd kind of be dumb to actually do it.
