The last time a fighter cried with only words?

When Dricus brought up how he’s gonna beat him worse than his dad, and give him flashbacks was crazy.

To be clear, whatever Strickland went through as a young child must have been really terrible. And I guess it’s kind of cheating to make someone cry through their trauma cuz it’s an extra soft spot, with Strickland being more of a snowflake than previously thought.

But yeah I can’t recall a fighter ever making someone cry purely from trash talk.
I remember DC cried when Jones beat him, and Aldo to Conor. But they both got KO’d by their biggest rivals, it’s pretty understandable that they really, really didn’t want to lose to them.

But we have Sean over here crying from words only, he didn’t even lose or get KO’d.

Maybe closest I can think of is when Patrick Cummins brought up making DC cry in wrestling practice when they were on the Olympic team. But really DC was crying and frustrated from losing his daughter, which affected his mentality in the training room. But I don’t remember DC crying from those comments, just getting extremely upset at Pat.

Has a fighter ever cried just from trash talk before?

Sean didn't cry when Dricus said that. He wanted to murder him for it.

Sean cried when life was good, on a major podcast as middleweight champ of the world. Then talking about it likely triggered the feelings he felt as a kid.

I've never seen so many scumbags hate on and make fun of a man for crying when reflecting on being abused as a child. I've never seen it in my life. Disgusting.

Lots of them in TUF
Almost each season, a fighter was crying whatever the reason
- Chris Leben because of daddy issues
- Norman UK vs Australia because Dana caught his phone
- Let me bang bro because they wouldn't let him bang
- Several guys that got sacked because they didn't make weight (TUF 5 + the Rousey season)
- A Peruvian fighter because his opponent could not fight and he wanted a win bonus
- Half of TUF Latam because Chito's daughter couldn't smile
- Mohammed Usman remembering his lost kid
- Namajunas randomly

Way to try to paint him as some innocent good guy victim.

The guy is a major douche bag, who shits on everyone, knocks out his training partners, and says the most outrageous shit about other people, but then throws a tantrum and chimps out when someone does it to him.

You reap what you sow.

You mean the same Sean that said this a fellow fighter that cried? Sean is a pos and he deserves backlash for being a hypocrite that can dish it out but can't take it

To be fair, he wasn't crying about the words, he was crying about the trauma he suffered. The words brought it back.

Trauma like Strickland experienced doesn't really ever go away, it just gets manageable, with lots of work. Unfortunately Strickland's way of dealing with his trauma was to become a cage fighter who acts like a giant asshole all the time.

It certainly makes him less sympathetic, although I DO have sympathy for him. I think with a couple of humbling defeats and a lot of therapy he could be a decent guy.

Just saying, Joann’s shit talk had Rose saying that “our father” the lord answered her prayer by finish.
