News Demetrious Johnson bow and arrow chokes 6’3” 250 lbs Brown Belt Sherdogger at IBJJF Championships

From personal experience, it's only risky if your back control is shoddy. You have so much control over someone in that position. Plus complete you own the initiative to change the position while maintaining the offense. I don't think there is a better place to be than the back for a smaller person in a fight. No risk of fluke KOs. Strength matters a lot less.

Sure I should've clarified. I meant the situation as a whole with a skilled tiny guy vs a strongman that's three times the size of him brawling it out on the pavement with curbs and shit around.

Still the best place to be. I know it's not a street fight but I've seen plenty of new big athletic rugby lads get choked from there by blue belt girls.

Now if you imagine a male UFC champion....

Dunno why, but when I read thread I was expecting something like this:

Lol read my post again Sherbro.

Yes. And that you've seen that doesn't matter what so ever. That's what I'm getting at here.

In BJJ we are playing, not trying to actively actually induce injury or maim your opponent. Especially not going against a girl. You're also on mats. There's also zero slamming allowed. Or strikes, or headbutts or whatever.

I know, but the fact that it's possible even in that scenario with a much bigger strength disadvantage than you'd get with DJ Vs an NBA player tells me a lot about what would happen in a real scenario.

NBA players are probably the last dudes I'm thinking of that'd be good in a fight lol.

But yeah the difference of a guy playing jiujitsu with a girl on mats is so god damn different from trying to actually murder someone with the pavement outdoors in a brawl. It's an X factor that makes a lot of difference.

Yes, if the guy was 500 lbs and fit.
I don't care how talented a 6 year old is, he won't beat a healthy grown man. There does come a point where size and strength is just too much.

Well, yeah, but given that there's never been a 500lb human being who is in shape, I think you're sort of illustrating the opposite point here.

There comes a point where size and strength is insurmountable, yes, but if the larger guy is totally untrained and the smaller guy is one of the best mixed martial artists in history, that point where the size is too great, is outside the range of human body sizes.

There are untrained 500lb GORILLAS that could do it, but that's another thread.

Please, if I land one shot he's toast.

But that's a big if.

Like, if I could somehow grab a hold of a black bears nutsack with both hands I could probably rip it off and the bear would maybe run away, but he's not gonna let me just grab it. Believe me. I've tried. Even one of the bears at the zoo, if you feed him a whole pint of honey first - and honey isn't cheap! - and you try and use a gentle caress. It just won't work.

I understand. I've been thrown on pavement. Shit will make you rethink life lol. Unfortunately I learned the hard way what positions are safer than others. Took some hard lessons tho

Depends on what you mean by “in shape”, if you healthy I might agree, but if you are talking about speed, power, and movement. There are some 500lb+ guys that can move relatively fast for their size, generate power, and would wrekt MM.

I mean can you see MM taking on someone with the athleticism of a sumo wrestler at 500lbs? Hell naw.

Trained in what? Are you expanding the training to be beyond MMA?

Into the realm of strongman competitions, football, pro wrestling, and general bodybuilding?
Hand to hand combat training

Show me 500lb football players or bodybuilders or pro wrestlers. There aren't any.

The only athletes that could possibly be 500lbs are sumo wrestlers, who train their entire lives in a combat sport

Paul Wright (Big Show) weighed in over 500lbs for a while, and I’d say he’d have beat MM pretty easily.

There’s also this huge Irish fat strongman 1711461320532.jpeg

Although, yes when it comes to football linebackers 400lbs is probably the biggest you will get.
