The Striking of Conor McGregor (with GIF's) -- RETRO BUMP

I believe he was a pro boxer and won some type of boxing championship.

As you can see, the dude is an amazing boxer.

Dude is Irish, only 24, and my new favorite young fighter. Cant tell you any more.

I agree.

For me personally he had the most impressive UFC debut since Anderson. Haven't seen someone move like that and counter/attack with such precision and intelligence in a long time.

Yeah he looked great. Only thing I'm worried about his Marcus tagged him a few times. Didn't phase him, but I hope he doesn't get caught by someone with power

Brimage fought stupid tho he rushed pretty much from the bell and even when he was hurt he kept rushing in and got tagged and finished.. He fought too emotional hates off to mcgregor

Believe it or not, that was Brimage's only chance of winning in the striking department. He fought smart, not stupid.

He realized that if he was going to get to Connor he had to put the heat on immediately and get inside his reach.

There was no way Brimage was going to win a boxing match from being patient and laying on the outside. Conor would have picked him apart.

Brimage had the right mentality for the striking.

He really should have tried to clinch or go for the single or double leg. That would have been the more intelligent route.

Brimage loses a striking match with Conor 10 out of 10 times.

I enjoyed that fight very much. It shows a rare aggressive striker who smashes others without getting hit himself.

It's like a 5 times more exciting, non-counterstriking Machida.

Nice thread but is it me or does Brimage look like he belongs 2 weightclasses below! Not taking anything from Connor, was a very memorable and impressive performance.

McGregor is definetely something special. I would love to see him against a good wrestler to see how his other skills holds up.

His sriking ability is on a whole- nother level in comparison with everyone else. Can't wait to see this kid with a title. I don't care what division it is.

Yeah, Conor is more of a pure counter striker along the lines of Silva. Those two actually make their opponents miss and within the same sequence counter strike. True counter striking.

Whereas Machida is elusive and nimble with footwork. He can make fighters miss but he hardly ever counter strikes. It's more of a case of machida picking the right time to attack.

There's very few great counter strikers in MMA.

I agree. Machida is a master of beating his opponent to the punch. Conor is more along the lines of Anderson and Chuck, by making his opponent miss and be able to deliver a ko shot follow up. Simply amazing and beautifully artistic. Like a ballet, or a symphony of destruction.

Yep, all 3 are awesome to watch. Their striking IQ is high.

I love pure counter striking. That's why I'm on the McGregor bandwagon.

Machida is like a bee. He moves, darts in and out, side to side, repeatedly. You know his attack is coming, and it's lightning quick, you just don't know when. Then he steps forward and stings your ass when you're off balance and/or least expecting it. He's really one of the best at that game. Feint, feint, retreat, move for a whole 7 minutes. It has to be mentally exhausting for his opponents.

Inb4 twerps with cookie cutter statements like "OMG his hands are down he is going to get knockout".

That's one of the most irritating things I hear Rogan say. Some fighters rely almost exclusively on head movement and footwork to not get hit. Holding the hands higher makes it harder to move the head quickly so those particular fighters would probably get hit MORE if they suddenly tried to raise their hands.

I hope he can deal with wrestlers. I'd hate to see him held down.

Needs to get rid of that bad habit of backing up with his chin up in the air.
