Yeah I feel maybe the surgeon just sucked. They sliced my triceps in half and it never fully recovered, they didn't warn about that. Maybe legs don't need to flex as much as arms do. Old pic of it - the pain seems to mostly be in the lower 2 or so inches of the plate for whatever reason...
Powerlifters are huge but what a lot of people don't realize is much of their body is broken down, often living with small fractures or fucked up tendons/ligaments. What they do is hard on the body.
that sucks - how did you break both legs? Your humerus was broken close to the shoulder? Mine was closer to my elbow and they cut my tricep in half to get to it, splitting it down the center. I have no idea why I listened to them and let them do that.
Was it femur or lower? Mine was my humerus and every time I lift anything above 10lbs I feel it. I still try and push through the pain, but I don't dare push heavy weight at certain angles. Pull-ups probably hurt the worst for me.
They said recovery would be much better and I'd be stronger. Just another doctor outright lying for profits over health. It was my first major lesson to be skeptical of anything a doctor says. I broke my arm basically the same way Big Nog broke his. He had a simple pin and I think had some sort...
It's just my bone flexing around the metal. Your bones need to bend and if they can't, it hurts bad, like a needle in the bone. I broke it about 17 years ago, have a plate with 8 screws. Had to quit bjj because of it, too many arm intensive subs.
This is important to note. If he would have competed, his first opponents would have all died and that would be pretty horrible for the sport. We should all feel lucky he never competed.
Not a wrestler but I follow it a bit. He's up there for sure, probably the best american. You also have guys like Hamid Sourian and Alexander Karelin, and watching Saitiev beat a prime Romero was something else.
Sure his sub skills are weak because he's new to that aspect of the game, but his ability to secure dominant positions will ensure he has a LOT of time to practice them, while his opponents are simply trying to get up, over and over again, only to land on their asses.
