Crime 12 House Republicans voted AGAINST congressional medal for Cops who almost died to save their lives

Congress has authority over the Capitol Police, what don't you understand? It's not like DC can give them awards as they are not DC police.

So their department has no award they can give them?
Link to this.

They all didn't do anything more then other cops that don't get this award. The only exception would be the 911 ones that died.

All in all its not a big deal if they get the award but I think at that level it should mean more. It should be so far above that a department medal will not be enough and this doesn't met that.

And I support the objections over the wording.

So then you object to Trump awarding those officers in both cases? I am just trying to clear this up that you are being consistent here.

Think of these awards more like combat medals. This one is specific to the Capitol Insurrection.
There are only 3 award Capitol police have. This way, the awards the currently have can mean more to the individual officers as they have been awarded so rarely.

Sounds like one or two may deserve this.

Gee its almost like they knew the white supremacist insurrectionists were their friends or something

Heres ANOTHER Republican congressman saying hes never felt threatened (presumably because they were White Supramacists)

When I get time, I’ll compile a list of everyone who voted these charlatans into office
The people deserve to know

For sure but I also recognize sentiments expressed by that troll account are not unique in ideology.

I've never seen any posts praising cop killers or violence towards police. You appear to have made up an imaginary group of people.

You been here for a few years and haven’t seen that?
That is 100% a real group of people.

Is this coming from the corner of the room that applauds cop killers? Violent protest? And routinely refers in derogatory terms to LEOs?

Fuck off. So some GOP members voted no. But the resolution passed.

Oh and for brevity sake here’s an article containing some of the reasons why:

Wow, they voted “no” in order to suck up to the disgraced former President and his insurrection crew.

That changes everything.

That’s not what the representatives said... one literally said they voted no because the capital building was referred to as a temple.

Rep. Michael Cloud (R-Texas) also objected to the word “temple,” writing in a statement, “it’s not a temple and Congress should not refer to it as one. The federal government is not a god.”

This is a nothing burger. The bill passed overwhelmingly.

So why not a department award like the links i posted. And the reason the Republicans voted against it was the wording.

Because of all things I just listed. His bravery and actions didn't just risk his life to save others, they also foiled a terrorist plot to disrupt an election of president. One of the important features of our democracy. And he did so without harming anyone. That's about as impactful an action as one police officer could have on this nation. And he wasn't following orders, he thought of this successful strategy on the fly while the mob attacking with weapons.

Karen B was happy until she realized most of the cops were white.

You couldn’t come up with a bigger list of Trump suck ups than that crew.

Temple? Lol, that’s surely the reason.

lol the US has long since jumped the shark. We're in final season GoT territory right about now.

Bills have 10’s of thousands of words. To use one word as an excuse not to vote on something so positive is a chicken shit excuse.

Don't see it mentioned on the first page.. but the reason they object is because of the use of insurrection, not the officers getting an award
