Media Arman Tsarukyan surviving Charles Oliveira's guillotine attempt

Conor got the absolute shit beaten out of him by Nate @%@ Diaz. This is a crazy pipe dream.

Not that we even need to guess, because Conor literally got KO'd dead by Poirier who Charles put away.

Okay’s let see:

-Clay Guida - McGregor wins
-Christos Giagos - McGregor wins
-Jim Miller - McGregor wins
-David Teymur - McGregor wins
-Nik Lentz - McGregor wins
-Jared Gordon - McGregor wins
-Kevin Lee - McGregor probably wins
-Tony Ferguson - McGregor beats this washed version of Tony who had just beaten senseless by Justin Gaethje.
-Michael Chandler - We’ll find out shortly.
-Dustin Poirier - McGregor is 1-2 against.
-Justin Gaethje - Gaethje probably wins

Arman surviving that was the top moment of the fight. I thought the fight was over, but that guy just wouldn’t give up, Volk-style. Awesome moment. Even though I wanted Charles to win, that was so badass I could only gawk at the screen and clap.

He did the right things. Frame out on the hip, got to get their hips away from yours.

Charles did the right thing too, if you're losing the choke use it to sweep to mount.

His darce defense in rd 3 was interesting too, by going flat he denied Charles the ability to hip in.

Charles needed to drive him over onto his side and hip in while folding the head into the chest but didn't have the gas or the time to do it.

Going into corpse pose looked off, but was an intelligent defense in the moment.
Was there a way Charles could have added either a gator roll or "anaconda" type of element to that D'Arce to tighten it?

Instead of sticking his tongue out like a dumbass and letting the clock run out.

Maybe force the head down or force a tighter "head/arm" choke by walking his body around to the side...

Something like that?

so many top fighters woulda tapped...respect to armaan; the do bronx fans that disrespected him should go back to reddit in shame
Oh they're probably claiming that the fight was a robbery or that Arman just crotch sniffed Oliveira the whole fight or some shit.

Nobody's taking away from his accomplishments but you gotta admit it's weird how his fans kept saying "the champion has a name!!" like he's still the top dog after Islam tapped him out. It's like the McGregor fans who said Khabib was "ducking" the rematch after Khabib manhandled him lol. :p
Always found it more weird JG fans calling him for a third title matches after getting destroyed in every one he's been in. Guess Max put a stop to that and Charles was beaten by Arman

Yes, he needed to roll Arman to his side. But it's a bit different from a gator roll.

For a darce we want the guy laying on arm out side to finish and we get the roll by sort of torqueing his head the other way and driving.

In the gator roll / anaconda setup we start from more of an arm in guilotine style grip and then chop the trapped arm into the center and dive into the roll on the side of the trapped arm.

To finish that darce we want to roll him onto the free arm side then hip into him and fold his head into the choke (using his chest to pressure the back of the head inward) to get the finish.

Going into corpse pose is a valid defense to the darce but it can be countered by forcing him out of prone onto his side. If he blocks that by posting with arm and leg, Charles' next move would be to slide his own hips in under Arman in the space created by the blocked roll so that he can hip into him.

I'm not sure if he lacked the time or the gas to do it, or if he thought he won round 1 and the end of round 3 optics would be good enough.

Mcgregor is 0-2 against Poirier at lightweight and his overall record in the UFC lightweight division is 1-3.

There has never been any reason to believe Conor could compete with ranked guys in the division, or even routinely beat middle of the pack guys who can wrestle and had a fight camp.

Nate Diaz was one of the absolute worst wrestlers of his entire generation of lightweights. Its hard to express just how terrible he is at wrestling, but he was out wrestled to decision losses against two separate future featherweights.

He took Conor down in both their fights.

So you don’t think McGregor would beat the vast majority of guys who comprised Oliveira’s win streak?

He'll be 40 by the time he could make weight again, isn't he trying to fight Chandler at 185?

Pre leg break, maybe he could beat most of them. But never again. He's shot.

Even if Conor makes it into the cage, beats Chandler, what's he gonna do next call out Strickland?

Conor vs Khamzat?

Shit that would be kind of fun.

There is no version of reality where Conor wins 11 consecutive fights at lightweight, let alone half of those being stoppages against top 10 opponents. They live in a different universe.

Charles is one of the all time greats of the division with what is arguably the best strength of schedule win streak, and he defended the belt multiple times.

Standout, defending, long win streak former champions that murders nearly everyone tend to pickup fans.
Yes they live in different universe. Daddy Conor was a two division champ and doesn't have 2 digit loss

I wasn’t really saying right at this very moment. Mainly pre leg break. I’m saying using Oliveira’s win streak to discredit McGregor is incredibly dumb when McGregor would beat most of them.

Conor is 1-3 lightweight.

World class fighters don't lose to Nate Diaz. Look at every other champion Nate fought - Bendo, RDA... they absolutely beat the shit out of him. Conor couldn't last 2 rounds.

There is absolutely nothing to suggest Conor could ever routinely beat ranked lightweights. He had 4 chances and won a single fight.

He probably could if he was fighting Christos Giagos, Clay Guida, David Teymur, etc.
