Does Martial Arts/Acrobatics add/takeaway from wrestling

Did acrobatics and martial arts add or takeaway from pro wrestling. With the exception of lucha type and japanese wrestling, some wrestlers are focusing only on flips, twirls and kicks. For example, in the attitude era you had a small number of wrestlers with a martial arts background (Shamrock, RVD, Steve Blackman). Now some wrestlers are relying more so on the martial arts and flips and less on the wrestling.

Your thoughts.
Martial arts-specifically Catch as catch can/amateur wrestling should always be part of Pro wrestling. There's nothing wrong with acrobatics here and there but there's way to much flippy shit as Jim Cornette would say in pro wrestling today. Everything these days is a spot fest. No one knows how to sell or tell a story in the ring. They're just doing moves to do them. Plus doing a bunch of stupid comedy in every match.

Both can be fine,if you know WHEN to do it. If it makes sense in the story of a match.

A face and a heel can face off in the ring, and maybe the heel has got the better of the match..and then the heel makes a comeback and the heel bails out of the ring...

the fans might have an expectation for a high flying move, and thats a good oppurtunity to go for one. Maybe just as hes gonna leap, heel moves out the way,and the face doesnt jump, and they honey dick the fans for something they will wind up doing later in the match.

The matches where its just high spot, and half the match is two guys lying on the floor recovering from the spot, does take away from it.

Martial Arts, especially today should be used because MMA has made people alot more knowledgable about holds,so it may be a treat to see someone use a move that is legit

Depends who's doing it. The martial arts techniques have to look impressive, and that usually means being snug. The acrobatics shouldn't look like a choreographed figure skating routine. I liked Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask's shit.
