I was commenting that he didn't have a shot against Anderson. He was getting lit up by Jacare before Jacare learned to use his hands.both guys were top 5/8 Mw at the time.

That body is built for aesthetics, not performance. That Luke still gassed in a round didn't he?
Luke probably gets fucked up. Even in his prime, he had poor defense against left hands. All three of those guys were in their primes in Strikeforce and all three would beat Sean at their best.
Oh you're right then lolI was commenting that he didn't have a shot against Anderson. He was getting lit up by Jacare before Jacare learned to use his hands.
Sean improved. Only 16% of the strikes Jack landed were to the head and he went 0 on 8 in takedowns. He might be, it's the only legit wrestler Strickland has faced at MW.
Not sure if thats enough sample to draw conclussions. Hermansson btw landed more than a hundred strikes on Sean in that fight, and I think he is a lesser striker than Rockhold.
I think Luke could take a passive approach standing trying to use his kicks which would probably be blocked but just waiting for Sean to get inside and try to trip him or reverse him against the cage.
Im not writing Sean off by any means, but I dont take for granted he would just stop Luke in the clinch/ground neither, he has not faced enough grappling threats to be so sure about it imo
Sean hasn't fought any good wrestlers other than Usman. Kennedy and Jacare take him down in their primes and out grapple him. Luke in his prime would do well keeping the range with kicks and at some point would get on top in a scramble and hurt him bad with strikes or submit him.Luke probably gets fucked up. Even in his prime, he had poor defense against left hands.
Tim gets wrecked. His defense left a lot to be desired entering the pocket and I'm not confident he could keep Sean down to smother him. He struggled with keeping Bisping down as well. He pretty much sat in mount and held on to avoid any escapes.
Jacare at that point destroys most guys. A few split decisions going the wrong way ended up making him look worse on paper, but he was a scary cat back then.
Prime Rockhold never had great cardio & his takedowns were never a strong point, most of his ground work came after his opponents tried taking him down.If Usmans tda and cardio abuse made him go turtle mode Imagine what a prime Rockhold could do.
MAYBE. Rockhold is way better on the ground with serviceable take downs. And yeah Luke's like one of those olympic TKD fighters. That will end badly if he doesn't set up a takedown.Luke's shit-tier boxing defense gets him finished. Sean has very good hands. Terrible matchup for Luke.
Strickland by TKO. Easy win.
Hey to be fair a lot of people would be finished by Bisping. He has excellent fundamentals and fluid combos. His weakness was very basic BJJ, bad wrestling that greatly improved later, doesn't have natural power so must time shots.Didn't read through the replies after the first page. Prime Rockhold got KO by crippled Bisping pretty quickly. Nah, Strickland takes care of Rockhold. Easier said with hindsight. But still.
Strickland fundamentals and Cocksalt lacks of defense, takedowns and chin might spell disaster for him.
Strickland would also destroy Weidman.
People give him shit for being chinny but it’s his defence that lost him those fights. Every one of his Ko losses would put down any other middleweight if they were hit by them. In fact he was still conscious after most so it wasn’t his chin. It was his defence and poor reactions to being hit.
He knows- Usman has 3 times the cardio Rockhold had.
- Usman had good takedowns, Rockhold doesn't.
1 Machida slipped
2 Weidman failed with his roundhouse kick.
3 Bisping got headbutted and headkicked.
- Wasn't prime Strickland
- Rockhold gassed in the 2nd against Weidman
Strickland wins via cardio and finds that chin on a tired Rockhold. 8/10
Rockhold gets it on the ground via something random 2/10
