And capitalisms solution is simply to encourage people to start a business and get into competition with others for resources and be the worst possible version of themselves.

Communist solution is to establish a strict social hierarchy based on Medieval times, with the king and aristocracy living a life of luxury while peasants toil the land for peanuts.

I know several here. I’m no expert, but talking to them, most who fled who those who had the means to. Middle and upper class.

t’s also a small island so in the modern world it’s never going to be a wealthy place on its own. Only Taiwan has been able to break that rule of thumb.

Cuba isn't that small and it has great natural resources, its the size of South Korea another virtual island (only land border in South Korea is closed completely) and about half the size of Honshu (where like 80% of Japanese people live)

While its doubtful Cuba would had turned out a first world country, it would still be much better off today, if we use Dominican Republic as example, even though Dominican Republic has much less land its doing much better.
