Was a little worried about deadlifts today, but my back held up fine - which is great news. This workout marks 3 weeks into the new year. I've been able to lift 4x a week & go to jiujitsu 3x a week. Just completed the 1st "10s" cycle of The Juggernaut Method (Chad Wesley Smith), which is what I'm running right now. Looking forward to the "8s" starting next week.

I've gained some weight, but I'm feeling better than I have a very long time - so I'm optimistic about being able to improve my strength & conditioning this year. Right now, I'm treating jiujitsu as my only conditioning, and my plan is to run through TJM over the next few weeks, which should take me up to the beginning of April. At that point, I'll re-evaluate goals & probably introduce a diet & more conditioning for summer.

Also might start practicing highland games again...

BJJ - 1.5 Hours

Got to go to the Sat morning today. Doesn't happen often. Had a good time, 1 hour class followed by 30 minutes of rolling.

Back got super tight today, didn't do a 5th set that I had planned. After I got home it loosened up - not sure why this is happening, but obviously having some trouble warming up my erectors.

BJJ - 2 Hours

Advanced Class, worked on very basic closed guard opening + knee slice technique. ironed out some details, lots of specific training then 1 hour sparring, 10 minute rounds with 60s break between rounds.

1.5 hours BJJ

Got a 1 hour deep tissue massage & Chiropractic adjustment in the afternoon then jiujitsu at night. Really got destroyed at jiujitsu but still good to get the mat time.

BJJ - 1 Hour

1 Hour private with Ricardo. Continued working control positions from the top, passing knee shield, DLR, etc. then a few rounds of specific training both bottom & top. Great way to start the weekend.

Back really tight after the last set, so didn't do anything else. I think the light, high-rep work I'm doing is going to pay off though. Should see some results in the next couple of waves when I'm doing 5 & 3 rep sets.
