My big stupid hype trains thread.

I hope this doesn’t turn into another Albert Tumenov situation where he keeps begging Dana to sign him whenever someone pulls out and Dana just brings in a regional American guy instead

I expect it to go exactly like that.

This dude is really fucking aggressive. Looks calm, then chains things together really quickly. He misses a spin kick, but before you have the chance to register that's actually happened he's in on the takedown and relentlessly grounding and pounding on you. All his wins are by finish and his only loss was to a weird shoulder injury.

Timestamped his fight from the weekend here.

So this dude opened up his fight with some measured leg kicks and a nice jab and looked like he was one of those striking Dagestanis, then he decided to shoot, turned the corner, took the back, slammed the dude on his fucking face and I figured he's one of those wrestling Dagestanis. Then he takes the back again quickly handfights and gets under the chin for a rear naked choke which the ref stopped early, but he was clearly going to win anyway.

All this happened in less than 2 minutes.

Interesting dude.

Out of curiosity, who are your top 5 prospects per weight class that have already been signed to a big promotion?

Depends how we're defining prospects, do you mean anyone who would meet the criteria I use for this outside the major promotions rule or people who haven't fought for a title? Technically according to my usual rules Max Holloway would still class as a prospect lol

You forgot Fiziev at LW, think he's right up there with Arman.

Polizzi is fun to watch. In both appearance and style he's like a bigger but less dominant Ben Askren.

I'll be watching Jung as well but the prospects out of that region have really struggled.

I notice Daria Zheleznyakova - 25 (Russia) 5-0 (New entry) is spelled with a 'y' in it by sherdog and tapology.
Never seen her fight or heard her name spoken so do not know how it sounds.

Dariya Zheleznyakova

Cool, I've fixed it on my Evernote list for next time. I don't blame Morozov for turning down a monster like him at short notice, but it'd have been nice for him to get a UFC shot.
I've seen him saying that his plan is like that -- after winning this fight get a titleshot, win a belt and after that -- move beyond the ocean.

Thomas Petersen

Country - USA
Weight Class - Heavyweight
Age : 25
Promotion - LFA
Record - 5-0

Petersen seems to be another one of those modern younger HW's like Aspinall or Bilostenniy that values speed over more lumbering power. We knew he had good wrestling and top control going into this, but the way he threw a quick 1-2 to KO a solid regional gatekeeper in Vernon Lewis and capture the LFA title was extremely impressive. It might be wise for him to have one defence of his title in LFA before making the UFC jump because he's quite inexperienced, but I can't see him not ending up there by mid 2022 at the latest.

Yet another exciting Flyweight in what is undoubtedly one of the premier divisions in the world for exciting prospects at the moment. Took a step up in competition against a much more experienced guy and made it look pretty easy with relentless pursuit of submissions once he got the opportunity before having the confidence to snatch a standing guillotine and drop to his back once he knew he had it.

Says he wants current LFA interim champ Charles Johnson at the moment and I think that makes sense.
