In all of Fedor's years as Pride HW champion, he had only five title defenses, and really only three high quality opponent wins. He had a whole lot of can fights. If not for the Cro Cop and Big Nog victories he'd be trivia answer rather than an MMA great. His streak is very clearly not the best.
Now compare his resume to any other hw from his era. They ALL have cans on their records. Very common in that era across all orgs. And pride was known for having freakshow fights, but pride fighters also fought more often.

That's why this they fought cans argument is such bs. Yeah UFC fighters were fighting cans during this era too. Difference is pride fighters fought more often, and pride has more circus fights.

Why muddy the waters with Volk and Nurmagomedov? Their title defense numbers are too low. The rest are great, PED use not withstanding for those where it was proven (and tested on an even playing field.)

Well..

Jones, and Silva have the longest win streaks. But they both have huge Asterisks beside their records. Usman had 15 at WW.. But many unranked, and low ranked fighters are in there. GSP has 13 with the last 12 being UFC Title fights that he won.

Then there’s Fedor. It’s so different compared to the UFC. So I pretty much respect his accomplishments, etc. But it’s apples to oranges, imo.
Lol at brining Usman up.

Silva. Long streak and no questionable decisions. He did juice though.

Jones should have lost 3 times at least. He also juiced.

GSP has a robbery in there too. He's clean at least unlike the other 2.

Fedor didn't defend enough against high level comp, but he was the most dominant of them all.

My vote is silva.

Jones gets shitted on by many for some of his title defenses being against fighters who were past their prime. Meanwhile, Fedor fights pro wrestlers with 0-1 records who had no prime and had no MMA background and zero training and he's still the most elite fighter ever.

Fedor's top wins are super legit, but if ANY other fighter anywhere close to his level had that many low to no level opponents sprinkled throughout their record the fans would eat them alive. Image if while champ Bones had fought 5 unknown TUF rejects and somebody like CM Punk in between the contenders he fought.

Fedor was considered the best HW on the planet when he fought an 0-1 pro wrestler who had no business fighting anyone in MMA, let alone the "GOAT" that shit kills me. How does an unknown non MMA fighter even get to fight Cro Cop & Fedor back to back? Those were #1 & #2 on the planet at the time. The level of fuckery that had to go down to make those fights happen is immeasurable.

Fedor, then Jones, then Silva.
Because weight classes actually matter. Difference between Jon and Fedor being that Jon was huge for his class, while Fedor was small for his which makes it even more impressive.
That said, Silva was the closest anyone came to superhero level (plus, I never liked Fedor much).

Also, if Poatan - Aspinall happens and Alex wins, then some reconsidering will be in order.

At one point Jones had a 10 fight run where he fought Bader, Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Rashad, Vitor, Chael, Gus, Glover and DC IN A ROW. Yeah I know the Gus win was contentious, but still, the strength of opposition is insane.

Yeah it's either Jon Jones or Fedor for me. If Jones continues fighting at HW after beating Stipe and than he goes in a run in defending the belt against Aspinall and the rest, he would cement his greatness by leaps and bounds.

Lol at Fedor zealots taking over yet another thread.

Everybody would be 30-1 in 10 years if they were being fed 0-1 pro wrestlers during the height of their unbeaten prime.
lol @ Fedor haters panties twisting.

Everybody would be better off if Fedor's glorious reign never met an end.

For me its between Fedor and JBJ!

Fedor was fighting during the golden Era of HWs and he beat the strongest opponents of that time in their own disciplines. You know, it is impressive that he beat Nog on the ground and Crocop in standup. This does deserve to be mentioned and show what generational talent this real live chubby Russian Middleweight is. However, he did have easy fights in between against lower competition.

JBJ on the other side did had often a size advantage because of his long limps but besides that is no HW, as we see now how much he really struggeled to gain some weight. He also, as Fedor, beat many of his opponents in their field of expertise. I cannot express how important this is to be mentioned in any serious GOAT convo. They did not exploit a weak division by being the only specialist in a certain field and exposing your opponents by holding on to them like your life depends on. No, those guys went there and embraced their opponents strenght and went for it, beat them where they are strongest.

Then its a coinflip between GSP and Anderson, but maybe Ill give it to Andy just because of the highlight KOs.

The rest, except for Kabib who just does not belong on that list by any means, is really not that important for me.

Anderson Silva - 17 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the MW title 10x.

George St. Pierre - 13 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the WW title 9x and also won the MW title.

Fedor Emelianenko - 27 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the HW title 5x.

Demetrious Johnson - 13 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the FLW title 11x.

Khabib Nurmagomedov - 29 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the LW title 3x.

Jon Jones - 19 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the LHW title 11x and also won the HW title.

Jose Aldo - 18 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the FW title 9x.

Alexander Volkanovski - 22 fight win streak, that included successfully defending the UFC FW title 5x.

I am a big Khabib fan but i voted for Fedor

Its Jones for me, and here's why.. he not only defended the belt so many times but he never ever even got rocked or dropped, let alone knocked out, and thats all against HWs basically because remember they are nowhere near 205 on fight night. To not even get dropped against all those heavy hitters he fought who have proven records of knocking guys out, just makes Jones so special.

His resumes is so impressive when you look at the names on it, and like I said to never be truly hurt in any of those fights says a lot!!.
