Shavkat Rakhmonov may soon have a sibling fighting along with him in the UFC.

Rakhmonov’s younger sister, Sora Rakhmonova, has been booked to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series on Sept. 26 in Las Vegas. She takes on Ernesta Kareckaite in a women’s flyweight bout, with both women hoping to secure a UFC contract.

MMA Junkie confirmed the news following an initial report Thursday by Vestnik MMA. The UFC has yet to make an official announcement of the matchup.

Rakhmonova, 25, sports an MMA record of 4-1. Her lone defeat was a unanimous decision in mid-2021, and she has since racked up three consecutive wins, with the most recent a second-round TKO of Valeria Karygina back in May. Rakhmonova has been fighting professionally since 2021 and has done all of her bouts for Naiza FC in her native Kazakhstan.

Her opponent, Kareckaite, is undefeated in her MMA career. She has four wins and one draw. She’s also competed in boxing and kickboxing. Kareckaite, who’s been fighting since 2015, last compete in MMA in January when she defeated Laetitia Blot by split decision at Hexagon MMA 6 in Paris.

Sora is pretty good. Not anywhere near the level of Shavkat, like 99% of fighters on the UFC roster, but she has looked progressively better and that one loss was too a serious prospect.

I could see her winning and getting some kind of development deal since she is still green but does show promise.

Development deal? Huh? You don’t think she could be competitive with the low end of 125?

Sora was a career 135er up until her last fight so I didn't realize this is at 125.

She probably is more likely to have more long term success at 125 because she always looked a little small for 135 but skill-wise she is what you would expect from a fighter only five fights into their professional career.

If she is signed without any more fights they would have to bring her along slowly against the bottom of the division which is doable.

Omar Figueroa's sister is still the goat sister in the fighting world.

She most likely would not be getting this opportunity if she weren't Shavkat's sister. That's not a good sign.

Still, could be fun. Her last performance was very violent.
