SUMO - 2023 Natsu Basho (May 14th - 28th)

tobi/ura was a hell of a romp as expected, ura's always bringing out some funky shit.

I'm telling you, Takerufuji is a problem. 7-0, 7-0, 6-1, 6-1.

Kawazoe 5-2 finish, Juryo here we come! Poor guy hasn't been able to squat correctly since Day 1.

Ochiai showing his strength again. He probably gets promoted to Makuuchi if he wins he last two, but he has to win both. Gonoyama and Ochiai gonna be battling in Makuuchi a lot in the future it feels like.

ochiai lower half is insane.
guy looks like he can lift a truck

Takarafuji vs. Mitoryu was comedy, super long match only to walk out of the dohyo at the same time in opposite directions.

Hope Meisei is not injured, looked like he hurt either his knee or ankle in his bout with Abi.

Nice to see Kiribayama not cruising after yesterday's win.

Terunofuji Yusho most likely. Head and shoulders above everyone this basho, glad he took a few months off.

Possibly for all the marbles

It was, until i realized Terunofuji (12-1) vs Kiribayama (11-2) is tomorrow... so now that's for all the marbles.

Nothing like starting your Ozeki promotion by tossing a Yokozuna.

Kiribayama's brand of sumo has become so strong lately

I don't know what senshuraku is or care about Kiribayama but if he has 33 wins in 3 tournaments then what is even the issue? Why are we considering not promoting him?

I think if he tries a henka there might be an issue? Idk.

Also I'm a day behind but it seems natto got nuked again, I just saw the last day or two on his channel. NHK really needs to cool it

Jesus, nobody throws Asanoyama like that.
Terunofuji is showing what Yokozuna sumo looks like.
yeah, Terunofuji tossing Asanoyama aside like that was so impressive. that's a fantastic combination of using Asanoyama's momentum, good kotenage technique, and overwhelming strength.

and yeah, i feel like even if they're talking about wanting to see Kiribayama do good sumo until day 15, his promotion is a sure thing after his last win and they're just saying that to keep up appearances. no way they deny him promotion.... right? nah....

can't wait to see Kiribayama vs. Terunofuji tomorrow too!
