Economy The collapse of downtown Los Angeles

Laughing....Ya'll Muppets are turning Donald into a Rock Star and don't even know it. I find it comical that the same peeps that walked around with panties on their faces for two years call Trumps voters "Cult"...like.
Its hilarious, call people a cult while falling for every single race hoax, blindly defending homelessness, transgender children playhour, graphic anal dildo porn in schools, BLM, illegal immigration.... Yeah, its US thats the cult. Sure. Seems legit.

What I can't believe is the last time I was in LA and SF , was the amount of whole blocks with tents.
One legal wrinkles with poverty in NYC vs LA is that the former has a right to shelter legal statute and LA doesn't.
Why can't the city clean that up?
A couple constitutional amendments. Cleaning up areas is also only an option if you have some place to place all those people.
Why would you take care of another countries poor and not your own?
Money is there and already allocated actually. But shelters always get bogged down in Nimbys and hot potato between different areas and the result is the city has billions of dollars its sitting on but not spending.
Around 1 year ago and 2 years ago, respectively. Only difference I noticed was more homeless post COVID but to be fair that's pretty much every major city. When I lived in OC I'd only go to LA area for concerts (OC has little to no venues), Dodgers games, and to visit family/friends. Even though salary normally is better in LA I could never deal with the traffic, density, high cost of living, and poor costal access. Preferred making a little less in Irvine until I went full remote.
Yeah I feel that, OC really only has the Meadows (super far) and the Observatory. At least the latter is pretty awesome.

Meh. I work in downtown LA. Videos like this always go by skid row and the surrounding areas and try to paint it as all of downtown. Only works on partisans.
I just don't think we should have any areas like that and skid row is fucking huge. With the billions we have no issue spending all over the place, give people a shot at some dignity, a shower, some real food. Thats no way to live and as it grows it spills into areas like a cancer. The filth should not be legal. Can't help everyone, but we could make a dent if we wanted to.

This should not be allowed period

There was a woman I worked with in Sunnyvale who was a security officer living our of her car earning I think $19 an hour. But people also whine that $20 an hour for fast food employees is far too much.

Yeah the Observatory is great but you're only going to get certain acts there because the small size. I thought the Meadows closed and they put some makeshift venue at Irvine's Great Park (Googled and looks like they both closed up). Only other place I've seen concerts in OC is the Honda Center and Eddie Vedder's festival at Dana Point Beach which is just a temporary setup.

That looks awful. High crime levels, with a lack of prosecution of criminals, as seen in LA will reunion businesses.
Someone needs to reboot their shitty right wing post bot. It's spouting nonsense again

Oh shit, you've discovered our secret agenda
MTG will fix the problem by shooting her Jewish lasers:)

Can't believe some people think a party would want this. Don't think anyone would want it, but lets just point fingers instead of finding a solution.

Has that ever been a serious concern in the US? Anywhere?

We dont want to provide health care or education for our kids.

Have there ever been extensive efforts to combat poverty or income inequality on a federal or state level?

I’m not in favor of all the hundreds of billions we’ve sent overseas but I don’t think that’s really relevant to LAs problems tbh. LA has the third largest GDP in the world. The homeless crisis a policy/spending issue.

Except no one did that in this thread, but you did in fact bring up your dear leader unprovoked. So project all you want, you are in fact an obsessed cultist.

I get it mixed up, is it the same as Five Points? And yeah thats about it for OC, long beach had Alex's bar but that's a small punk venue.

5 Points was at that Great American Park off the 5 Fwy. Never been but I guess it's closed now. I got towed for parking in the AutoZone next to Alex's the one and only time I went there.

Just another dump on the horizon. Shades of Sao Paulo. Welcome.
