UFC Fight Night - Barboza vs Chikadze - Offical discussion

^ I think my play of fading Abdul will remain the same, unless Di Chirico opens as a moderate fav. Alessio has never been stopped and has been competitive in the striking with guys like Muradov and Holland, should be able to handle Alhassan's predictable approach.
He's going to be -200 range it appears, but I agree he should win somewhat comfortably.

Guido is the Chris Gruetzemacher vs Rafa Garcia of this card. Th pressure he put on Marlon Vera in the first round, which he did win. I think he mixes his strikes better, is not afraid to grapple, and utilizes all his tools better. Mana is mainly a head hunter, he looks for the counter hook, Guido just has to avoid getting reckless and not chase mana down and get caught. Dont have the odds yet, but i'm hoping they put him as a massive underdog 200+

Man, I really advise you to not put your money on 41 yo Canetti coming off a KO loss to Batgerel.

Batgerel is a good fighter, i dont get how that is a con in your eyes.

he still looks sharp, is in excellent condition. He is 41, but only had a few fights, so he is far from worn. For 300+ this is a no brainer bet. 9 takedowns in his ufc career, he can be the aggressor here and push mana on the back foot and hold him in guard top control.

Watching his training videos on gram, he looks like he made adjustments to his boxing, keeps a higher guard with clean form, i'll give him a shot, an aggressive veteran who has been training mma before 2007 .

Why is Kevin Lee currently a fave over Drod?

Barboza rolls right?

Headcase Mike Perry got it down in 1 and 2 against Rodriguez so in theory Lee could do the same, but probably control him a bit better. Means got Rodriguez down, too. Might be a live bet situation if Lee can't get it down R1 or if he has issues keeping it down, otherwise Lee might be the right side to win a decision with grappling. Lee doesn't win on the feet and he might get gullotine'd off a takedown, but if he can hit double legs and ride for long enough then he can win 2/3 rounds.

I'm not sure about Barboza. He tends to fade in the 3rd and this is a 5 rounder, but we also haven't seen Chikadze go 5. Barboza should be able to grapple a bit if the striking isn't going well, but early on he'll have the power and probably speed advantage. Chikadze has more tools and looks so I could see it being competitive on the feet and if neither tires then it could be a close split decision. The over might be ok if it's + money.

Meerschaert is probably getting TKO'd within 2; he has no path to victory that I can see. The line looks right so it's barely parlay fodder.

Jacoby is a better Anders and Stewart is a little small for 205. Stewart has a puncher's chance, but he's fighting a guy with legit pro kickboxing fights and 1 pro boxing fight. I know credentials in other sports don't always mean much, but I'm not sure Stewart will bring anything that Jacoby can't handle.

I agree that Di Chirico should win, but it looks like a live bet situation.

These are just early leans and this card reminds me of the last one so I'm probably gonna pass. Muradov TKO might be ok. I'll wait for the over/unders and props to come out, but I'm gonna focus on Brunson/Till for now.

Martinez/Cannetti does not go distance is -160

Martinez has a 100% finish rate. Cannetti has gone to decision twice in the UFC.

What am I missing?

I remember listening to Firas Zahabi podcast. He said something to the effect that blowing one ACL is threatening to your career, but blowing both....

And he trailed off. This was before Kevin blew both his ACL's out. Kevin was a strong wrestler with abominable reach. He's gonna be half the athlete he was.

His wrestling relied on his explosiveness and comparative strength. His weakness was always cardio, but I don't see him bullying anyone good at WW.

Daniel had a long camp against a strong wrestler before visa issues last minute I recall. And I doubt he was expecting Mike Perry to shoot. I would expect Daniel to improve his TDD somewhat.

Who knows though. Maybe Kevin spent the last two years turning that insane reach to great use with a piston jab. Maybe he comes out chain-wrestling like a motherfucker.

I wish my platform had them as an option to bet on. Too far on the prelims I guess. Go for it man, seems like a sure bet.

Gerald Meerschaert. His last win was over a guy who went 3 decision wins in a row, got submitted twice in a row and Gerald subbed him for the third. So obviously he had real bad submission defense.

I don't know much about his opponent. Except he is on a 3 fight winning streak in the company and coming off two KO finishes. Stopped both Andrew Sanchez TD's whose a fairly good wrestler.

Gerald is 7-6 in the UFC will his last winning streak was in 2018. He's had two of those in total.

During his early time in Prague, Muradov controversially appeared in the autoerotic porn production and the soft-porn photo shoots under the stage name "Akhmed Virt"

Also managed by Flyod Mayweather.

He's on a 14 fight win streak and his last loss in 2016 was a doctor stoppage. 68% of his wins are by tko. He's a big middleweight with crisp boxing with what seems to be fairly solid wrestling.

Makhmud Muradov was born on February 8, 1990 in Soviet Tajikistan, to a father who was a Tajik national and a mother who was from Soviet Uzbekistan. In 1993, he fled as a refugee with his family to his mother's native Uzbekistan due to the ongoing Tajik civil war, and finally, in 2019, he was granted Uzbek citizenship.

He trained boxing in his youth before transitioning to kickboxing and became Junior Uzbek Kickboxing Champion under K-1 rules.

Muradov was forced to drop out of school and start working at the age of 15 to provide for his family after his father got involved in a car accident that left him permanently disabled. At the age of 17, he began his successful combat sambo career, and because of that, he earned a well-paid job as a security guard in Russian Siberia. He was seriously stabbed and shot several times while working there. When his father got released from hospital after four years, his family had to sell their apartment to pay for healthcare bills. Muradov returned to Uzbekistan, and eventually managed to make enough money from competing in combat sambo to be able to buy the apartment back. However, by his account, it was hard to get a good job without contacts, so in 2011, then 19 years old Muradov moved to the Czech Republic in search of a better-paying job. There, he worked various jobs such as construction site worker, cleaner, and waiter. He started training Muay Thai and MMA in Prague under the tutelage of Petr Kníže, who allowed Muradov to train and sleep in his gym for free and also helped him get a more comfortable job as a bouncer. Muradov then started his professional MMA career in 2012.

He has a baby with a pop star. Besides his native Uzbek, Muradov speaks Czech, Russian and English and is conversational in Polish and Arabic.

I just find it hard to understand that someone doesn't like anything on a whole card by Monday.

That's a lot of tape in short amount of time :O
Do you tape? I have never even watched a full UFC fight that wasn't free on YouTube. My accuracy on picks is 36/42(85%) so I don't think I've worse for it.

I just look at their record in the UFC, some stats. See what people are saying about them on r/mma and sherdog. I hope you guys keep doing it or everyone here will be talking out their ass.

To beat Barbosa you have to pressure him, keep backing him,who ever stayed in range got fucked up.I don't know if Giga can do that,it still close but I like Barbosa in this one.
