I tossed 1u on Nover ML(+375) and .5u Nover(+604) decision just because I could see Nover using his size/strength advantage to take Barao down and control him there. I know Barao is the much more skilled overall MMA fighter but Nover has a very good chin and is going to look pretty massive next Barao which I think could help him utilize his solid wrestling to get the fight to the ground.

To me, this is a "styles make fights" type of deal and while I fully expect Barao to win, at the currents odds I think Nover has one very clear advantage in the fight which leads to a clear path to victory. I know the Brazilian judges might fuck this idea up but I have a feeling this fight is a little closer than the odds indicate and at the current odds I think its worth a stab.

Agreed about that, but i think Barao knows this very well and he is not going to let this happen

Fair enough if you think it has value. I just don't think Nover has good enough take downs we aren't talking a div 1 wrestler here, we're talking about a nurse who trains part time.

What im trying to allude to is that you are actually getting an advantage by him missing weight. Only thing you should worry about imo is the UFC doestn take too kindly to fighters who miss weight and can give bs decisions like Gastelum vs Woodly.

If Tractor loses this fight its because hes not good enough to defeat Burns, not because he had a bad weight cut.

Remember wha happened recently with Chad laprise? he missed weight and had one of the best performances of his career.



He always has a hard time cutting weight, I honestly just think he really wants to win this fight bad and wants every advantage.

i had 4 units spread out on the prazeres fight.. so a huge risk. i want to reduce it by 0.5u on both the ML and the O2.5. i don't want to be as exposed when something is clearly not right in the prazeres' camp. i'm still on his side and the over, just smaller.

you're going overboard. youre making some kinda crazy assumptions.

jose luis castillo had an intentional miss in his rematch with diego corrales

i think youre crazy to think that there is not a possibility that tractor is doing this as well.

He's not saying there's no possibility that is what has happened. What he's saying is basically we don't have a clue it could be that but it could be an injury or something. We are all making assumptions, so i don't blame Ez for hedging a bit when it could be some sort of injury. Yes some fighters pull a Castillo but plenty of others dont make weight due to injury, etc.

Just looked at the weigh in photos. Some thoughts.

-Franca is a huge 155'er. Like, crazy big.
-Gillespie looked bigger (more muscle mass) than in some of the tape from previous fights which I think could help him against Franca.
-Stevie Ray lookin really good and Alan Patrick lookin good and really goofy.
-Erick Silva looks the best he has in the last 2 or 3 fights for sure. I am wondering if the line will move closer to even after the official wieghs (aka might want to get your dog odds in now)
-Chagas looked very good too
-Not sure the height difference between Rani and Tanaka but Tanaka looks MUCH stronger.
-Gilbert Burns looked alright. Maybe its the lighting but he has looked better.
-Prazeres still looks like a fucking fire hydrant.
-Thiago Santos may have the best physique in all of MMA, just sayin. And Eric Spicely may be the exact opposite.
-Massaranduba looking ripped. Felder looks much bigger and thicker, however.
-Oh my. Bigfoot Silva looking softer than some bread dough. Anyone with money on him better hedge NOW.
-Barao looks good at 145 but Nover is giant for this weight class. I wonder what his walk around weight is.
-Cyborg looks like a zombie. I thought she looked so much better at UFC 198. Still she is HUGE. People say she should be able to get down to 135 but damn, she has a large head and is just so muscular. That might be the first death in the UFC if she tried to get down to 135.

That fight was like 12 years ago. Kinda shows u how rare it is.

What do u think is the most likely cause is when a fighter misses weight?
 
MMA Junkie talked with Prazeres and he basically said his plan is to go for the KO. He felt in previous fights that he got matched with guys that had better technique so he had to get it to the ground. He also thinks he can match Burns in BJJ (which would be a huge mistake, IMO) and that he has been training with an olympic boxing coach for the fight

That could make a small play on Prazeres before the fight and then live betting Burns afterwards more interesting especially since Prazeres missed weight.

Wait till the fake weigh ins tonight to see how bigger Cyborg is. Lansberg won't make it past 3 mins.

Erick Silva is easily the most aesthetic guy in the UFC. Why isn't he modelling?
