Prides HW division was totally over rated. They looked good fighting each other with their steroids but when Cro Cop went to the UFC and then pride was absorbed, the top HWs didn't fair too well. Jones is clearly on another level at lhw but who knows how he'd perform at HW. I'd think Jones would be about a 2-1 favorite in this hypothetical match though.

Pride's HW division was pretty fluid and unweildy too, in that a lot of guys were just oversized LHW or MW, or guys who were jumping up from those divisions to fight a clearly larger opponent.

There's one guy in the UFC's HW top 15 currently that weighed in at less than 240lbs for their last fight (Oleinik). How many HWs in Pride were genuine heavyweights (when in shape) in that sense? There wasn't nearly as many truly big, skilled guys getting around back then as hindsight makes out there was, even with juice being rife.

UFC rules and cage are totally different than ring and PRIDE rules, and almost all those many changes were anti K-1 kicking style and in favour of wrestling and distance, reach, circling fighting. It is a totally different sport by rules and environment. In Cro Cop´s case it was a matter of change of rules and environment where the fight tales place, not quality.

Jones would lose to Fedor with no elbows, fence and in boxing ring where he would not be able to keep distance and utilize reach advantage to a avoid beeing hit.

Swarming with punches transitions well into Fedor's Sambo/Judo throws , then into subs.

Disagree. Any version of Overeem is a nightmare for Jones. I can't see Jones knocking out Overeem which to me is the only way Jon wins. I see Overeem winning the clinch and stand up and Jon not being able to get Overeem down.

Nog won UFC belt and beat 2 champions and UFC trademark posterboys Sylvia and Couture. Later he declined due to big number of fighs in career. His body and reflexes were visibly detoriated in his last fights. Nog´s career did not start in UFC to be measured by it, it started 35 fights earlier and years earlier.
Werdum won title, Hunt and Overeem fought for belt, Barnett beat UFC champions Mir & Arlovski. So they all did reasonably well.
For Cro Cop change of rules and change from ring to cage was the game changer.
He also had huge number of fights and wear and tear, but he could still compensate that in ring and Pride rules, but cage and unified rules took away too many of his tools and gave aditional tools to his opponents.

Most realistic way for Fedor to win is with a lucky punch, but a better boxer with longer reach like Gustaffson was completely stifled on the feet. Fedor's wild haymakers aren't going to do better, especially after Jones wears down his legs.

Jones could take down an Olympic wrestler like Cormier several times in a fight. Fedor is going to be taken down even worse. When he does, he's going to eat elbows and he's going to bleed profusely.

Jones getting nearly armbarred against Vitor is a silly argument here. First, it was a one time thing in his entire career and unlike Fedor, he didn't get finished by an armbar. Vitor was also roided to the gills at the time, something Fedor doesnt have. Fedor is more likely to be armbarred by Jones considering Jones will be in a better position to land an armbar with his superior wrestling.

Fedor's best wins were against one dimensional fighters like Cro Cop, Big Nog, Arlovski, Sylvia. Fedor has never beaten anyone of Jones' calibur, but Jones has beaten and never lost against fighters of Fedor's calibur.
