Dumbest fight IQ

Anyone mentioned Jorge Gurgel yet? For a grappler his flat out refusal to grapple was mind-boggling. There's always been grapplers who think they're strikers but Gurgel brought it to next level. You've heard the saying about bringing a knife into a gun fight? Gurgel kept bringing a damn big gun into a gun fight and then throwing that gun away.

Disses Cat for "grappling with RR"

Posts gif showing Cat trying to flying knee RR instead of trying to grapple with her

dude the fights 14 friggin seconds. You really think it was a good idea.
What lead to the arm bar?
Was it grappling? What lead to the grappling....? I cant remember. :)

Just a fucking terrible idea against Ronda. Thats her game. A flying knee which leads to grappling. Grappling a judo olympic medalist whose game is grappling. She even admits it on JRE.
Definitely fits the description of the OP. Dumb dumb and loses in 14 seconds in a fight i think she could have won

Hard to argue one worse then this

He’s clearly the worst in the ufc

This just the most brazen example

He dropped Perez twice in his fight and refused to follow him to the floor and ended up winning the round but losing a 29-28 decision

I don’t think that’s fight IQ; he moved his head the wrong way, in less than a split second.
Fight IQ is about being able to adapt off the game plan and make the best changes during the fight to capitalize on an opponents weakness.

Ben got caught by a precise, beautiful flying knee. As far as strategy he seems as a technician during the fight using his own skill set.

He saw a dude initiate a sprint and ducked toward that opponent. That's pretty dumb.

It's not even a multifaceted problem. Lean backwards. Side step. Literally anything other than duck into the momentum.

DC vs Stipe recently. DC had that fight in the bag, but his ego took over and he lost the fight. He lost his last fight, which he knew he could win, which makes it so much more painful. Now he has two unfinished business and he is 40 and ready to retire.
Yes I'm pretty sure Stipe's bodyshots didn't had anything to do with it

Stipe's bodyshot would never come to play if DC fought withing the gameplan.
What gameplan? Walking towards Stipe with his hands into Stipe's face and poking his eyes? He had 1 takedown in the first round, and he did absolutely nothing with it.
Stipe took DC's shots, DC got tired and could only tried to walk Stipe down after the second round, Stipe had a TD on DC in the third round and started working DC in the 4th round. End of story

That was not the gameplan, that was his ego. DC could of lay and pray for 5 rounds easy.

Nah, title is "dumbest" fight IQ. Cat chose to strike against a grappler. That's not dumb.

Sure she could have chosen a less risky strike, but actually choosing to grapple with a superior grappler, like Mike Perry taking down Cowboy to choose one of many examples, is significantly dumber than choosing to strike with one, as Cat did.

Just Martin Kampmann in general, dude lost so many fights for not fighting intelligently, most memorable was how he fought Condit the first time, good striking, grappling showed he is a well rounded fighter, then decides to stand and bang with Daley who cant grapple and gets TKO'd, he should have had that fight done and dusted in under a round.

Wrong. Cat needed to keep her distance and use her stand up skills. Closing the distance with RR was a terrbile idea regardless what it is..Flying knee, flying omoplata, anything exchange that closes the distance in on grappler is bad idea and dumb fight IQ. She needed to keep on the outside and utilize her kick boxing. I really think cat could have beat Ronda. Im kinda shocked were having this disagreement given the outcome of fight.
Its a no brainer

Were never gonna get anywhere tho
Agree to disagree.
Bed time.

Well, DC's gameplan is never 5 rounds of lay and pray. He goes for a takedown when he feels it's necessary to wear his opponent out (for example in the Anthony Johnson fights). I don't think DC's gameplan was five rounds of LnP against Stipe. Maybe it should have been if you look at the outcome ...

It was obvious that DC is better on the ground, so he was suppose to just take it there every single round.

He was littin Stipe up pretty good in the first 2 rounds, landed a lot of shots. Can't blame DC for keeping it on the feet. Once Stipe started to find his grove (somewhere in the third round), DC was already exhausted and had nothing in the tank to get the fight on the ground. But I agree that DC is better on the ground, and he could probably ride out an easy victory via LnP
