It's not hard to start a wildfire in a place like the Amazon, especially during the dry seasons. Given the size of it, I'd imagine there are ALWAYS fires raging somewhere, all year long.

Clearly, discovering previously unknown plants is very important in the development of new medicines. And the Amazon is a place where there are still a lot of plants to be discovered. Hopefully, we don't destroy these potential sources of medicine by destroying the Amazon.
