UFC on ESPN+ 22 Blachowicz vs Jacare

Souza should have a big advantage on the ground just like Luke did vs Jan, but getting the takedown is very difficult vs him. On the feet gotta give the edge to Jan. Moving up in weight isn't the solution if Weidman and Luke are any indication. These depression issues don't help either, just doesn't seem very motivated whereas Jan is hungry for a title opportunity and knows he's in the running for one.
Jan did get knocked out by santos before he beat the ghost of rockhold.

if he beats Souza I would think he’d be one or two fights away from a shot.

but who knows in that division. They could give anyone a shot at Jones who he hasn’t fought before

The Rockhold that fought Weidman would have beaten LHW Rockhold after watching the fight again. I wouldn't hold getting KO'd by Santos against anyone, Souza doesn't have that type of wanton aggression either. If Jans takedown defence against the cage is on point he'll win pretty easy imo

Threw a little on Jan off memory rewatched that Rockhold fight and the worst part of that was Luke's fight IQ.
Jan may have gotten sneaky at the bell with that kick but he was aiming that left hook the whole time.
I'm still torn I think Souza has lost a step but he is an animal, worried he works something in the clinch but Jan does fire off the break well.
Hoping we see a Cannonier situation where the power is a big factor. Anyone recommend tape on Blachowicz's bottom game?

I’m not seeing Jan or shogun winning their fights 70% of the time.

Jacare top game overrated

shogun a lock

the things you read at Sherdog

Jacare is getting deaded, but you're right about Shogun, he hasn't got a chance

Tempted to put a unit or 2 on Cortez.
Melo has some Aspen Ladd level footwork and knows about 3 punches none of which seems to be a jab. She looked like a punching bag against Aldana.
I think the grappling should be a huge factor. Cortez looked solid in her last fight showing good clinch work/TDs some smart GNP and a quick guillotine escape as well.

How do you think Craig beats him out of interest?

well shogun is slow, predictable and he has cte. You don’t have to hit like rumble Johnson to hurt him.

How much more has he regressed since his last fight almost a year ago? Do you really want to pay over -200 to find out?

That stuff there, Craig probably TKO's him standing or club and sub, or even just causes one of Shogun's injuries to be reinjured.

Shogun could catch him with a big punch but I think he is well past the years of out moving or out speeding people.

Oh no chance I'm betting Shogun, I just don't want to bet Craig either.

I can’t fault you there.

im a degenerate and I’m taking a shot at almost +250.

Jacare barely attempts TDs in recent fights and Jan's TDD looked legit vs Rockhold who tried as hard as he could and couldn't get him down. Even if Jacare does get on top Jan is still a decent black belt himself and Jacare probably needs that early sub or he's getting wrecked on the feet and gassing. He's too slow, too small and too basic standing and has looked plain bad in his last 3. Gassed hard vs Gastelum, boxed up by Weidman and then generally awful against Hermansson. Doesn't even have much of a punchers chance as Jan has generally had a granite chin that took a huge counter off Santos to break. Plus you've got all the questionable training and depression issues on top.

It's another former top MW moving up to LHW in desperation cause they just aren't that great anymore.

All that might be true but do you really want to pay around -200 to find out? Does Jan really beat him 7 out of 10 times? Where is the value in that price?

Craig probably hits hard enough to hurt Shogun at this point. Lionheart is known to crack hard but not really outright murder dudes standing in round one.
