Official DOOM ETERNAL Discussion

OK. So i think it worked. When i asked to go back to the campagin it said id keep all my achievements. But i dont know how to tell if i have that empryean key or not still.
When you go to the mission select computer in the Doom fortress you can see each level you beat and the items collected/challenges completed, etc
That and you can load the keys you've collected into the chamber by the powerups.

I'm playing through the 1993 DOOM now that I've beaten Eternal. I don't know if I've ever properly beaten it. I either used God mode as a kid or level selects. Also, the chapters were kinda confusing to me.

I'm on the last chapter now and it's amazing how solid, fun and easy to play the game still is. Especially the GZDOOM port. Once you map your buttons, it almost feels like a modern game. Because of the speed and fluid framerate, it actually feels a lot like DOOM Eternal albeit with less enemies and more exploration but they definitely feel like the same universe.

One mistake I made was skipping the alternate encounters and DOOM Slayer gates. Since you have fast travel, I figured I'd just do them after I beat the game. The game was intense enough and the levels were super long so I didn't really feel like MORE encounters on top of that. Bad mistake...I beat the game and realized that you can only fast travel when you reach a certain point. So essentially, you have to replay the entire level if you want to get back to the gates. I liked the game but I'm not going to replay the levels again just for that.

Once you beat the level, I kinda think you should be able to fast travel at will from it at the computer.

This game isnt for pansies brah. If you don't want a chance to rip and tear then go outside and plant some flowers or something that's more your speed.

Fast traveling is most definitely NOT metal

I know enough about the Doom lore to get all the little references in these new Doom games, but I've never played nor watched a walkthrough of Doom 64. It's referenced a hell of a lot so I guess it's something I gotta go and experience now.

Poor Doom 3 gets no love haha

Doom 3 has more in common with the resident evil franchise than the Doom franchise..

I still remember the duct tape mod for the flashlight, lol

yeah i didnt like doom 3 that much. It kept putting too much in the way of the killin

They did give it a little love though. There's a mission where one of the rooms is designed exactly like the security desk you walk up to at the start in Doom 3, I think. They also had the arcade machine from Doom 3 in Doom 2016 as well.

I quite like the story

<Fedor23>

It's corny and stuff but I enjoy reading the lore through the collectables

The Icon of Sin stuff was pretty cool, and I think the story did a good job at setting up the sequel. There were a lot of things that they set up in Doom 2016 that paid off in this game. Sure it's not a Kubrick film, but who cares? lol

I’ve been going through this afternoon getting random collectibles and Slayer Gate keys. Got everything, including the Unmakyr and went to the Ripatorium to test it out. Decided to get out of there and my entire save after I finished the game was overwritten with the save from me completing the game.

Salt levels are through the roof.

That wasn't a bug or glitch, that was Doom telling you to go fuck yourself.
