There were definitely elements of fakery and propaganda surrounding the moon landing due to the cold-war motivations behind the whole thing.

I'm as patriotic as it gets, so I want to believe. But you're telling me the greatest achievement in the history of the human race, likely the entire planet, happens and we just accidentally delete historic valuable data? Really?

there was definitely an Apollo mission. Cant fake the millions of hours of research and development thousands of people put in. I'm just not 100% positive that ship actually landed on the moon with those guys. I think its possible at some point some people realized it would be way to easier and safer to say we did and fake it, than actually do it.

During the Cold War, Space was like one of the most important thing as you all know. Maybe the American Government realized that landing on the Moon was impossible. So why not fake it, and let the USSR basically bankrupt themselves so they could try to one-up something that is impossible to do (among other things of course)

They didn't destroy the 'historic valuable data'. Video recordings of the guys jumping around on the moon aren't all that important from a scientific perspective. They're mostly done out of a desire to share the experience with the rest of humanity. They did conduct actual experiments, and the data from those is publicly available.
