He's had a lot of dead to rights RNCs locked in but lacks the physicality to finish them, as well as other subs. Though that will eventually change

i would agree there. Just not enough strength but like you said, he’s been filling out gradually. You can see the change in muscle tone from his 18 year old baby boy body to his 20 year old toddler body

There is a reason bookie gives you 4.33 for decision, Broe. Garbrandt has 9 wins by KO and only 2 by decision. And when we take away the outlier of a performance vs Cruz, he didn't look impressive over old and unathletic Briones. Or in the Brimage fight, until that knockout. He's not a round winner, he can't control the distance or the pace of the fight, which is essential if you wanna win decisions. If he had giant athletic advantage or wrestling advantage it would be different. He can't stay on the outside and win decision like Sandhagen, not against Assuncao. KO or bust.
All in for a guy who's already a favourite and he's not exactly fighting a can is not too wise. I'll steal a comment under the video UFC top finishes: Magny Magny is a mid-level boss fight in the UFC, massive stepping stone. You better come prepared. Your average welterweight doesn't beat Magny. It's usually a guy with a very special toolset, or some A-level athlete who can just overwhelm him with power. Rocco is neighter, but he's still very good fighter. All I'm saying is I like Magny, but I like him more as an underdog or at pick em at least.

I think you are a bit biased against Rocco Martin... Magny has more “tools” such as his size, experience, and possibly cardio... However, Magny has been a top 10 gatekeeper for a while for a good reason. Rocco is relentless compared to Magny and if he has any success chopping his legs, it’s Roccos fight to win. I think Rocco is more motivated to win because Magny is the gatekeeper while Rocco has a chance to break into the top 10-15

No. Tony martin doesnt have a chance to break into the top 10-15. Ive been on martin in almost all his ufc fights, and hes a guy that never instills confidence. In most cases im more or less betting against his opponents. I even went big on Maia to beat Martin in what was an awful fight where Martin couldnt outstrike the corpse of Demien Maia, or mount any notable offense.


Tldr? Magny is infinitely better than Martin, and has the style paired with physical tools to dominate him.

You better hope Magny doesn't allow Rocco to blast away at his legs. He basically won 2 out of his last 3 fights with those and Magny got destroyed by Ponz with them. He's also pretty well rounded himself. I'm just saying I wouldn't be so confident in Magny. To me, it's a close fight.

Ponz is so underrated imo. Where did that POS go anyways? There were so many fun fights for him.

Just a question why are we treating Rocco as the second coming of Gathje? Is he known for his leg kicks or is Magny just bad vs guys who can leg kick? I'm confused.

You really shouldn't be confused if you actually read what I said. First, you're the one that brought up Gaethje, why? idk. Second, did you watch Rocco's fights versus Moraes and Emeev, the 2 out of 3 fights I was referencing? My guess is not because like I said he basically won on leg kicks and did serious damage to both of them, so ya, you could say Rocco is known for his kicks. I hope this clears up your confusion.

I respect your view, and everybody elses view on the fights. Based on what i have seen from the trajectory of each fighters recent history, i feel like this is just a perfect matchup for magny. It wasnt too far back in history that most of the people here were mentally pumping themselves up to bet on nakamura to beat tony.

Yea im going well ill be there since I live here now I still dont know where we gonna meet up at yet thoughand I still dont know if I need to place my bets ahaead of time as in we wont be close to a casino when were watching it cuz I normally like to bet the next fight depending on how i do on the previous fight lol. like will we be near somewhere where after each fight i can hurry up go to the sportsbook and place another bet or will we be to far. Martin has alright timing on his low kicks with some sting but thats about it. Sure he looked great spamming them on Moraes and Emeev who did nothing to stop them but realistically Martin doesn't have many real set ups or skill to his calf kicks he just throws them naked which has worked against that stood there eating them.

Magny might have struggled with low kicks but nobody stood there just spamming them they backed him up got in his face with power and then landed them. Rocco on the other hand is happy to stand at range and wait to throw single shots. Magny had no problem avoiding naked low kicks with Leach either sliding his leg back out of range or firing back a combination.

Not to mention the calf kicks seem like Martins only real path to victory, he hasn't shown the footwork to get in range of someone with a huge reach and footwork advantage, hasn't shown the volume to win rounds even if he can get in range, he hasn't shown the wrestling to use his possible BJJ edge etc. it doesn't seem like a good match up for him at all.

To me you sounded like you're betting everything on him, that's why I wrote you. If you really put your bankroll on a -150 guy, you actually need this to be as close to a lock as possible. He needs to win even with bad judges or if he gets injured mid fight. You think he still wins if something freaky happens?
