He had only lost to Khabib when he began his reign of domination from 2012 until USADA hit around mid 2015 and then he foolishly moved to WW later on. I dont think Justin Beats 2014/early 2015 RDA. RDA would work takedowns and striking. This is a guy who managed to takedown Covington on 3 of 6 attempts, his wrestling isn't Khabib level but its good enough to get the fight to the ground and he is much better on the feet than Khabib and much better than Gaethje on the ground..

Id have Justin as the favorite right now but RDA was only brought up because of the fact that he beat Nate in the past. That RDA would beat Gaethje. A much cleaner well rounded striker that is fast and has power but can also grapple well enough to take down Covington multiple times without gassing in 2 rounds. You can even look at how they both did vs Khabib. RDA was never cut through like butter the way Justin was vs khabib.

Gaethje went 5 rounds with cardio machine Ferguson. He's not going to get tired throwing leg kicks at Diaz.

Ferguson is the most durable fighter at 155, and Gaethje made him quit. Diaz doesn't stand a chance.

The Nate that fought Michael Johnson against the Gaethje that fought Michael Johnson would be interesting. Agree that Justin would be eating combos left and right. Also agree that the Brothers have always thrived on opponents whose fighting ethos was “I am gonna hit the gas and break this guy before he breaks me.” I don’t think it’s out of the question at all that Nate might end up stinging Justin on the feet when he got tired and maybe grabbing a neck. Good, entertaining fight which IMO could go either way.

The more refined version of Gaethje might kick those legs to the point of needing surgery.

There are certain fighters that need to be fought a certain way. Nate, Anthony Pettis and Marlon Moraes are names that jump to mind, all for very different reasons. In Nate’s case he doubled that advantage by possessing an appearance that lead opponents in the exact opposite direction from where they should be taking the fight.

I see the current version of that matchup unfolding a lot like the Diaz-Masvidal fight or Nick vs......well, anyone:

Well, Khabib exposed Gaethje's ground skills. I fear a lot of guys just smelled blood with that one, will have more courage to try and get him to the ground. Someone like Doostin may not be a great wrestler, but he is a black belt - I think in a rematch he'd try and strangle Gaethje instead of going through a stand up war again.
