Street bully challenges boxing coach and gets f***ed up

poor guy looks like he´s mentally challenged, he has his gloves backwards ffs !!
i understand how the coach felt disrespected and wanted to humble the guy, but he did not show much humility himself, tbh.

Frankly I think it was very unwise and an ego trip for this coach to take the bait and agree to fight this stranger. What if that guy is mentally disturbed or having a physical condition that makes him especially vulnerable to strikes and he accidentally kills him in the ring? The coach is the expert at boxing and so he should have known better. The law will not treat him lightly under those circumstances and he will have his blood on his conscience.

Or what if the stranger is psychotic and cannot handle beig beaten and returns with a firearm and starts shooting?

Discretion is the better part of valour and martial skill is better exhibited in being able to avoid a fight and to make peace.

All because the coach could not control his own anger at being challenged or have his bravery questioned by a complete stranger...

I mostly agree with you no this but I can see the other side of this, that when the guy shows up and says he's going to fight you, and you say I'm on crutches, and he won't take no for an answer, it's maybe better to just fight him in the ring rather than risk him attacking you in the office or something where you can get hurt/hit with an improvised weapon or something + obviously calling the police would be the smart move but that could also escalate into a street fight.

When I had to deal with a guy like this, he wasn't REALLY trying to be a dick, the dude had some sort of mental disability and after a few teeps he backed down - but in my case I didn't know he wanted a fight. I saw that he had nobody to spar with and I wasn't currently coaching so I offered to spar with him, next thing I know he was swinging with his tongue hanging out his mouth lol

GSP has agreed to street fight challenges and tricked the challenger into getting himself kicked out of bar without fighting, which I think's pretty funny

I like how everyone is saying he could be mentally ill. He could be but more likely he's just a dipshit who thought he was tougher than he actually is.
Most of these guys have never been ina gym in their life and dont know what its like to be challenged how to carry themselves. They think its cool to watch mma vids by losers calling themselves striking master or some shit and then look for a coach as an afterthought to cultivate their inherent talent. This dude 100% was a spacetime like bum who lived out a fnatasy in his head until he decided to act on it and got a harsh dose of reality.

This posts reminds me of something I forgot about.
Back when I used to train at long beach Khmer kickboxing, the gym is located in downtown long beach, the ghetto. On a busy street with a lot of walking traffic.
The gym is setup with the ring up against the front door, which is open, but blocked by the ring.
People would frequently walk by and stop and watch. From regular people to crackheads, to gangsters, drunks, etc.
This is when I was a kid and of course the smallest guy at the gym. There was a handful of times some random would sit and watch and decide they would want to test themselves against......the smallest fighter. They would come in and want to test themselves and challenge me. Sometimes friendly sometimes not. The coach at the time would usually just punk them and be like oh yeah fight me and get in their chase them off.
This happened at least 3 times I can vaguely remember. I was probably 16 and 120 lbs at the time. 1 was an older black gangster and the other 2 were drunk piesais.

This happened to me too, guy starts sparring with someone newer than me, poor guy gets lit up, then starts on me, I do a little bit better but I've only trained for about 4 months, I managed to counter his jab with a left hand and stunned him, but that was about all I was able to do and I was just on defence the whole time. Then finally one of the regulars saw what was going on, tagged in and started slapping the dude up and down the gym

My favourite part is that he has his gloves on the wrong hands.

Kinda strange that the coach didnt understand that this guy had nothing to do in a sparring fight.

Nobody normal put on boxing gloves the wrong way. Not even my 4 year old son.

This guy was either mentaly sick, on drugs, or both.

Once when I was in Thailand me and some guys from the gym went to a bar and the bar had a muay thai ring in the middle. We hade a couple of beers and then they wanted people from the crowd to fight some thai in the ring. One of the guys we were with was a swede and he was a national champion in kickboxing or muay thai. He had a couple of beers and accepted the challenge. He was just gonna play around, put on the gloves the wrong way pretended he had no idea on how to fight, then the bell rang and the thai punched him hard on the nose within a few seconds and he starts bleeding. The swede got angry and knocked down the thai with his next combination, with his gloves put on wrong. The thai didn't want to continue.

This guy was either mentaly sick, on drugs, or both.

Or had a couple of beers as in the case above.

Looked more like the coach was the bully.
Definitely. He could have easily embarrassed him and gave him a beatdown without throwing his heaviest shots and trying to knock him out like that. In fact I know very few experienced boxers who would do that to a newcomer, even if they had talked trash. An experienced boxer would have thrown a minute of jabs and light punches and let the man gas out and give up, that's how you humble a cocky beginner.

the coach is by any metric an experienced boxer. He also could of knocked the dude out by targeting the chin but chose not to.

He should have more sense then than to try and KO the guy like he was doing throwing those kind of shots. He's the bully in this scenario imo. That wouldn't happen in any gym I've trained at. He would have been in with a boxer who would teach him a lesson in humility without trying to take his head off. Outbox him and make him quit, that's how you discipline an overconfident novice.

Yeah on other forms of media and social, ppl are giving him shit
But we all know and seen what happens when Dojo Stormers run up, esp if it's a shitty gym hero cesspool of a gym, he'd prob end up with brain damage from a gung ho gym enforcer. Seen it personally myself twice.

But this coach went easy on him, gave him tips, and kept it civilized. I think some of the knockdowns/falls happened becuase he has literally NO stance or balance. And anything at that point would put him on his ass

This is what I’d call being a dick is;

The guy in the OP was pretty restrained.

if he was trying to KO the guy he would of done it. The guy wasn’t a novice boxer, he was an asshole.

No you don't throw punches like that if you aren't trying to knock someone out. The coach is an asshole too in this situation. As I said not many experienced boxers would do that to a beginner whether he's an asshole or not. The way to humble someone is by outboxing them and gassing them out, something the coach could have easily done instead of trying to hurt the guy for clout.
