Social Gas the Ozzies?

Let's be honest he has the right to ensure his safety and with what was carrying on next door I would have done the same if only to tell him to shut the fuck up. At best you could say he was supposed to be wearing a mask but once again if he argued that he felt in immediate danger you would get laughed at for trying to insist he find the face mask.

I'm not sticking up for either of the fuckwits as the one causing the debarcle should have been jailed for breaking the law and as you pointed out old mate an attention seeking hypocrite. But to say you can't open your door is false, if you get a balcony you can sure as fuck go stand on it and talk to the neighbours standing on theirs.

You can't do any of this in hotel quarantine within Australia. They literally read you a list that says you can't do these things or you can receive a fine. There are permitted times to open your door. It's for food and services only. They do the same in transit to the hotel. It's a potential 20,000 fine if you eat or drink on the bus.

Out of interest how many mass shootings have there been in America this year alone? Guessing even with all the co-vid restrictions etc still double digits. Is that why you need the guns?

We only count white mass shootings...so prob not double digits.

We require it every other aspect of daily life in society. Proof of insurance or a drivers licence when operating a motor vehicle, registration of a car, a billing and mailing address address for purchases. A name or an ID to collect a package from the post office. Whether I agree or not covid has been declared a global emergency.

It all came off the fact that people weren't adult enough to stay home here in Australia when they returned from overseas or were feeling sick. At the start of this people were home quarantining and ducking out to the shops. People get paid $450 to get tested as encouragement and will still stop at the shops on their way home creating potential exposure sites or stop and talk to friends who then go positive. I have said it multiple times I don't agree with the lockdowns, but lets be realistic about the gen pops ability to just do the right thing. Australia has achieved zero covid multiple times before a hotel breach has spread it again. Our government screwed the vaccine rollout, vote them out next term or call for a general election. Don't walk through the streets assaulting people to protest.

Is it harassment when you are too stupid to have a quiet meet up somewhere with people in private? Why go somewhere you can be seen or make heaps of noise? What used to be a simple noise complaint is now a covid breach. Neighbours will call it through just to get the noise to stop.
Say your name, an address and refuse to say anymore. It's all you need to do. Don't assault, spit or swear at the police. Their job is to speak to people doing the wrong thing. they are living in the same restrictions. Have your protest in court in front of the magistrate, it's not difficult.

Correct, if we'd have enough vaccines we'd have been fine, that fuck up has cost us big time.

No disagreement there at all. Not all illnesses take your relatively mild form of asthma and can kill youu whilst being as infectious as the common cold if not more so in some ways. I can usually avoid a cold in close proximity with people, covid seems to spread rapidly whilst masked which is a concern.

I agree on the getting healthy part, but the reality is covid has been involved in killing millions.l I am personally not worried about it but worldwide we should be due to the effect it's had.

Folks who are compromised are going to get sick much easier in general than others from many things . . . my wife is prone to sinus infections from her allergies (thank you Oklahoma). I have similar allergies, but thankfully haven't had a sinus infection. Sinus infections can lead to other issues and ultimately cause major health problems for some.

The news today was that they've managed to nab a million doses of Moderna to be distributed via pharmacies. Although I haven't seen anything about improved availability here in SA yet, so I'm not holding my breath that we'll actually get any.

Fucking hell. You are a broken man.

Covid breaches are just noise complaints? Loud party, multiple voices and cars out the front? Just like a normal noise complaint you just need to turn the music down, be respectful of your neighbours and problem solved. I am not a broken man, I am just moderately intelligent and respectful of my neighbours? It isn't hard.

The businesses on the other end being shut is absolute bullshit. Unfortunately people who think they have the right to mass gather in the open have ruined it for them. Bars were open for takeaway services so people organised a pub crawl. It only became an issue because people didn't walk with their beers and effectively set up outdoor pubs. All people had to do was grab their beer, do a lap and come back for another. Now none of us can do this.

I don't agree with any of it but I didn't vote for the current government. I have to live with it for the next election because of other people. Just be smart about it all for a month or two and everything will be back open. The ship has sailed for other options unfortunately.

The secret seems to just be turning up at places to be honest. That's how I got my first dose. 2nd dose was a nightmare to book, it took me 3 weeks and I have to travel. I just hit 3 weeks post my first dose and might try another walk in. I am in a profession where I should have got vaxed months ago, but wasn't able to book then for anything but AZ.

I'm on a shitload of drugs for a spinal infection I had last year, which should have prioritised me due to having a compromised immune system, but the amount of bureaucratic hoop jumping is ridiculous and the fact I don't own a mobile phone apparently isn't something the centralised booking application or staff can handle (not that they have any places before mid October).
Pain in the arse, although at least there's still no outbreak here in SA. When I heard they were shifting to an app based quarantine and sticking with the original pre-Sydney timeline I thought we'd be screwed given how behind we are with vaccination.
There's no vaccinations available here yet through GPs, although my own doc did say they hoped they might get some by the end of September.

Yeah it’s worth reading the fine print with these announcements, recently they announced 25 million Pfizer doses, and actually these will be delivered in 2022 and 2023!

Yeah this can certainly work, my mates missus is a nurse and seemed to have the heads up when a vac place was empty and available for walk ins.

I didn’t have too much trouble to be honest, took about a month for my first booking which I did on the website and got my second shot tomorrow. I’m in Victoria and I’m getting it done in the city, mainly so I have an excuse to go for a drive ha ha

Thread title reminded me of this

That's bullshit mate, if you believe you aren't allowed to open your door over a potential safety issue the yanks are right we are turning into soystrailians. Listening to that ruckus there's no way I wouldn't be concerned about my safety and done similar (without the attention seeking) The video clearly shows his door open but he didn't leave his room he just uses his phone to check what's going on. If the police had the opportunity to charge the guy they would have after all he was all over the internet, did they charge him?

I didn't have a balcony but some of our work group did and they were all on the balconies and were told they could do so.

Use your common sense, if you believe your health or safety is at risk you have the right to ensure you are safe. Christ mate I wonder if it was anything but a fire alarm you'd sheep up, are you a kiwi?

I didn't say I agree with any of it or that he should have gotten anything for what he did. I went by the quarantine directions as read by the quarantine staff that everyone agrees with. The hotels do not allow you to have balcony access. Sadly it's to prevent mental health issues and suicide more than contamination, but it's the reality of the rooms chosen these days especially in Vic where this video is from. They also read youu a thing saying you can't open your door unless it's for food, services, medical related or a directed evacuation. All of this is explained. It doesn't mean it's the end of the world, but it would be considered a quarantine breach. I have no issues with him opening the door to check, but it doesn't change what it is. I would have opened the door also. I never said it wasn't a reasonable reaction for a normal person, just that it's a breach before mentioning who that person is. He is basically being a Karen and filming it for likes.

I was regional but work in the city. Just moved back into metro. I did the walk through on a spur of the moment decision on the big Day 1 Pfizer release. It took forever for me to book my second, but the system did crash because everyone did what I did. There was no real vaccine hesitancy here just a sheer lack of vaccines. It's pretty embarassing where we are at this point in terms of vaccine numbers, but we wouuld have cracked 70% months ago if anything was available.

It's pretty funny to watch everything going to NSW because they screwed up. NSW has less restrictions than Victoria already so you can't fault Gladys on her commitment to her state. It's kind of unfair to watch Gladys personally be involved in every major outbreak in most states. She has these last lot of lockdowns, Ruby princess, NZ etc. Victoria had it's share to with the hotels and other states following that. I may not agree with all the lockdowns but dan went hard and it benefitted the rest of Australia. he burnt his own state massively and continues to do so. Gladys did the opposite and now gets rewarded. Other states can't get anyhting whilst NSW continues to climb rapidly towards 80% and Gladys gives them their freedom back. Great for NSW but frustrating for the rest of Auustralia, buut in no way individual people in NSW fault.

Doing a half arsed lockdown was what got her into this mess in the first place. At no point has the advice for lockdowns (if necessary) been anything but go hard and go early.
Not to mention of all the places that should probably have opted for a purpose built quarantine facility it was NSW, with the size of their population, their state budget and the number of returns they were receiving. Not even mandating vaccination for quarantine hotel staff? Ridiculous. As I understand it NSW government received more federal funding for the extra returns they accepted. What did they spend it on?
Morrison's handling of the vaccination role out doesn't seem to be killing him in the polls (as opposed to the Bushfire response), I haven't seen yet whether Gladys has tanked in the polls, but she definitely should have. The Ruby Princess was the only screw up she should have been allowed, never mind all that stuff about failing to disclose relationships etc.
Not really familiar with the opposition in NSW, but it's hard to imagine them being more incompetent.
