Opinion General Mark Milley - Traitor or Hero?

I don’t mind him be scared and hiding the codes for Trump one bit. Stopping an unstable person from launching those insanely destructive weapons. That would be about the stupidest way we could let a tragedy occur at the largest scale ever seen.

I don’t understand what he was talking to China about. Did I miss it where Trump was talking about starting a war with China? If he wasn’t doing that, why would Milley call them?

No I read the excerpt from the book. It said Milley is went around the room making everyone repeat that they would come get him if Trump tried to launch a nuke. Launching a nuke isn’t being hard on China. The only way I believe that this would have happened is if Trump really was acting unhinged and hinted at it in some way.

The part about Milley calling China wasn’t in the news article that I read last night. That part doesnt make sense to me.

The whole thing could just be made up anyways
 
I’m going with Traitor. It’s the military. I think they have a chain of command for stuff like this.
 
At the very least, it's a failure within the chain of command, bordering on treason. If you support it, well, then you'll also have to support the next time some military commander goes rogue and "does the right thing", regardless of whether or not it lines up with your political hackery.

You should re-read the U.S. Constitution.

"The Constitution specifically identifies what constitutes treason against the United States and, importantly, limits the offense of treason to only two types of conduct: (1) “levying war” against the United States; or (2) “adhering to [the] enemies [of the United States], giving them aid and comfort.”

We're not at war and Gen. Miley didn't wage war against the U.S. Although China is a rival nation (not an enemy), Gen. Miley did not give them aid nor comfort. He did what the Generals did after 9-11. They called Russia and said "Hey, it's about to pop off but none of that will be directed at you."

Not treason. Case closed.
 
Milley actively defied the chain of command to give aid and comfort to a foreign rival. He fundamentally violated the Constitution and the bedrock principle of civilian control of the military. If this had been done to Obama or Biden or any Democrat POTUS leftists would be demanding that he be put in front of a firing squad. This is the most egregious act by a senior military officer in my lifetime and others have been drubbed from the service for much less. Furthermore Milley is actively implementing policies which destroy our military effectiveness and drive out the people most likely to be quality professional officers as well as those most likely to give their lives to protect America and it's interests. You know it's bad when even meal thief Vindman says Milley must resign.

He must go.
