UFC Lightweight fighter vs NFL Lineman, who do you take in that fight?

Make it top 10 UFC LW vs Lineman with 1 year of MMA training

Huerta was/is a bad dude.

How in the fuck can you say a guy who was 6-2 in the UFC wasn't UFC caliber?
His lone win against a solid opponent in the UFC was Clay Guida. One could argue Garcia, I suppose. As soon as Roger began fighting recognizable names on a consistent basis he began losing. Roger was a serviceable fighter who was matched in an advantageous way in the UFC, and as soon as he faced an elite level fighter (K Flo) lost handily. His record since leaving is bad.

He was never my friend.

LW - I'll take the LW.

Now if we are talking FlyW vs a total freak like a JJ Watt or Aaron Donald type now we might ahve something. But you gotta tell me the rules and where this "fight" is taking place. There comes a time when size is just too much. JJ Watt is like 6'5" and 290......FAST, strong, and use to shedding off 325 pounds dudes.

T-Wood and Bryant McKinney (NFL lineman...like 375 pounds) discussed this a bit. An MMA match the UFC guy wins. A streetfight is a different deal b/c of the mentality of it all. Totally different mindset/fear/adrenaline/etc.

Ts probably didn't factor in, that Drew Dober fight night weight at 155 was 183.
So he could easily be 200 out of camp, which is heavy enough to fuck up any 240 non fighter.
No problem adding some fat also.

If the linebacker has like some 8 years of wrestling experience during highschool and college, now that's a different fight.

Went to a SD with Gray.

His 2 losses fought for ufc gold 6 times.

Not sure about linemen, but a few of the top strongmen would do damage to some lighter guys on the street, especially guys under lw

Chances are the lineman gets KO'd if he tries to stand or get's a limb snapped/consciousness detached if it hits the ground. On a side note, I wonder how a UFC HW would get on in the NFL?
Brock Lesnar tried his hand at the NFL, couldn't latch on.

Greg Hardy did ok in NFL for a few seasons.

Austen Lane was also in the NFL for a little while.

UFC HWs if they tried to play in the NFL would mostly be linemen from what we've seen. I think those 3 guys were all defensive linemen.

There are other guys in the UFC who played college football. Like Eryk Anders who fights at MW and LHW and played linebacker at Alabama. He tried to go pro in football, couldn't latch on with the Cleveland Browns.

MMA guy should take it.

God damn it..

An average american man is fucking 200lbs at 5'9 with 18-24% body fat..

Ie a lightweight is a lot bigger and stronger than your average guy..

So, the question becomes.. can a pretty big guy who spends his life fighting in one of the most competitive divisions in the top promotion fight better than an athletic guy in an american nische sport..

I'm pretty fucking sure he can..

I'm sorry that that offended you to the point of name calling. Agree to disagree, but your words speak more of you than mine do of me. Have a good day, bud
The irony of an anonymous keyboard warrior saying Huerta isn’t UFC caliber while crying about name calling. Have another soy milk latte, bud.

UFC LW fighter would beat the snot out of NFL lineman who has never trained in combat fighting. Of course lets be clear its a case by case basis and what I mean by that is I'm sure some NFL lineman could put up a better fight than another NFL lineman and have more knowledge, but they would all lose regardless.

I'd be willing to bet most would get choked out, rather than knocked out cold.

Is the skill gap enough to where it compensates for size?
Fuck yeah I do. I'm sure this was a setup for that old beatdown from what's his name, the Mexican cat with the crazy life, and the woman beating linebacker outside the club.

How come I can't remember dude's name? Don't call me old. Call me a lot of things, sure. But, fuck (not "buttfuck"), don't call me old!

No way Islam beats up on any NFL lineman. Let Islam fight Jon Jone's brothers if he wants. They both talk about how they would take Jon, so what the fuck could Islam ever think of doing?
Jon's brothers cannot beat Jon in an ALL OUT fight. They are bigger and stronger and can probably out rough house him. But Jon fighting to end them like he does in the cage? They're not beating that Jon.

And, they both have trained lots of wrestling and MMA, with the GOAT himself.

So I agree with you that Islam isn't beating THEM. But the average linebacker that's never trained MMA? Easy enough.
