Official crow eating thread

I didn't think Francis had a prayer- I didn't see the cards, but man, I was hoping he had enough in the tank to be more active in the 10th- a better round could have done it (unless the judges had him winning that one, I personally didn't).

Also Tim Bradley calling Fury a 290lb bag of milk had me dying

Fury was fighting on 10 percent just like Floyd MMA nerds are so delusional.

For sure Fury underestimated ngannou but this is not tyson vs buster Douglas who was a contender and a highly experienced pro boxer of international class. We r talking about an opponent with his first pro fight in boxing. Ngannou managed to surmount a lifetime of lack of amateur and pro boxing experience and other thna his undoubted power, that speaks for high level fighting nous that would have succeeded in most fighting disciplines that relied on striking power.

Francis has proven every detractor wrong on this forum, period. He got away from that hating, limelight chasing coach Lopez. Won the belt and left with it, telling the UFC to kick rocks. Got his Fury fight and got paid. Now his performance tonight. Ridiculous. Everyone should have already respected Francis. At this point, if you don't, you're just a hater.

The one time I wish I knew more about boxing. Some people think Ngannou shocked everyone while others say Fury coasted and wasn't trying.

To me, it looks like Fury didn't take the fight serious but wanted to make it look easy for him but felt Frank's power and knew it was gonna be riskier than initially thought. Them he got dropped and knew he had to try a little harder but still be very smart about it.

I also think the Judges protected him a bit.

It's like when I play ppl in foosball and don't immediately play to win.. I could spot someone doing that if I was watching foosball or hockey, but not boxing.
Fury said he came in taking the camp and fight as seriously as ever.
All of the actions tonight showed he DID NOT.

-He was grossly soft and out of shape even by his own poor sloppy body standards. Weight was high but not the same bulked up look as when he fought Wilder the 2nd time.
-He was visibly shell shocked and stunned in his corner at times. Genuine look of panic on his face at times. But he controlled his breathing and knew he could point out a decision.
-His timing was horrible he couldn't time anything. It looked indicative to a guy who hadn't sparred in many months
-He normally murders people and keeps them away with his jab. Its like he totally forgot his jab because he hadn't used it in so long
- Francis was able to slip and dodge many of Fury's power shots. His speed was horrible as if he hadn't prepared in the least bit.
-He was nowhere near as mobile or on his toes as he is at his best. The 8th round was the only round to where if actually looked like the Fury that is light on his feet that destroyed Whyte & Chisora. Only time he resembled a shadow of himself.
-Fury is known as a slick & cunning fighter. Especially in the clinch or on the break. Francis made Fury look like a slow amateur in these scenarios. Francis was the one who grabbed the edge in these situations and looked like the more seasoned fighter.
-The utter disgust and disappointment he tried to hide in the post fight ring interviews. He knew he embarrassed himself.

With that being said.....You would still expect a current HW champion boxer to walk in the ring directly off the couch & box circles around any other athlete. Even a MMA champion.
So its a bit of both. Yes this was far from the best Fury but Francis changed the paradigm. He proved that his boxing is at least world class and that he is good enough to be a legit title contender. That's all that really matters.

ate it, but don't really care, Fury looked like he took this fight as seriously as i did

Did fury even train for this fight, he was just circling, jab, circling wtf was that.

Copium.

Yeah, Fury is full of shit that he trained hard for this fight. This is the worst I can recall seeing him I think ever, some can say it was due to Francis and there definitely is some credit due toward him. But he did not look good, he was slow, plodding and didn't do much of anything. Tyson definitely thought it would be a walk in the park and paid for it, you could tell he was embarrassed after the fight ended.

is it copium or is it you don't know what you're looking at? former world champion Tim Bradley literally said Tyson Fury didn't look like he took the fight seriously and that his footwork was all over the place tripping himself up. that's not to take away from Francis, he did better than i'd imagine and came prepared and it's not his fault Fury is a flake.

the real copium is you taking some kind of moral victory because no matter how much everyone is excited about how well Francis did, anyone who said he was going to win was still wrong.

Nah..just more like you have trouble reading.
Francis proved the doubters wrong no matter what. An amazing accomplishment.
Didn't matter what version of Fury that was. Francis' boxing is world class & he should be ranked off this alone.

oh the irony

How did Fury win? He received more damage, got knocked down, rag-dolled around the ring, and never threatened Francis. I haven't seen the significant strikes landed, but if Fury landed more significant strikes, a person wouldn't have known by the 3-point difference in the split decision.

So did Fury deserve that split decision win?

My untrained boxing eye, looked like Francis won based on MMA scoring criteria. Did more damage, landed the harder shots, controlled the center of the ring, landed more body shots, clinched less.

I never thought it would be competitive
