Social Joy Reid Defends Books with Pedophilia in Public School Librairies

So, if that’s your position, why did your previous post say it wasn’t your position?
???
I didn’t make it up and you just said it was your position.
???

We literally agree. I never said we should have “mob rule”. I believe the community has the right to vote on who makes these decisions.

Everyone makes decisions we agree or disagree on. We then vote on people who we agree or disagree with. How the the blue hell is that authoritarian?
What's authoritarian is your reasoning that if we allow professionals to do their jobs, some might do things you disagree with (the same with your argument against property rights, among other things).

It’s authoritarian to understand that people make policy that we disagree with and we have the right to make different choices in the next election? That’s a very strange belief.

Can’t you admit that we believe the same exact thing on this issue?

Also it’s strange that disagreeing with an elected official and voting them out is considered authoritarian.

Isn't one too many?

Depends on the context and the grade available at.

For example, a biography that includes a section where the author writes about being sexually assaulted and how it affected their life would be appropriate for teenagers imo.

Same with an educational book that defines rape as part of a section that talks about consent in sexual encounters.

The point is that this Moms For Liberty campaign to remove books to "protect the children" has gone way beyond this, removing books for things that are completely benign to the vast majority of people, because they're right wing religious zealots.

So the exact opposite of porn for kids is your bizarre complaint? You just said on the first page "be a parent and don't let your kids read or watch it", and now you've shifted all the way over to complaining when someone does exactly that and leads by example by proving he's not watching it either?
It’s actually the opposite of the parental dynamic I discussed: it’s asking your kid to parent you—particularly in the realm of your adult porn intake, which is super fucking weird.
Just imagine if more fathers took an active role in discussing the harmful nature of porn on young men with their sons.
I think fathers taking an active role in discussing the things that can be harmful about porn—such as the fact that it’s not a realistic depiction of sex, or the negative effects of watching too much porn— is great.

I think a father making their kid download an app to track their adult parent’s porn usage is weird as fuck. Even for alleged “accountability.” “Dad, I got an alert that you were watching Big Burly Ass Pounding Volume 7 again! Jesus will be disappointed in you!”

—That shit is weird.

One thing about a thread like this, you get to find out who the kid diddlers are. Why else would anyone defend this shit? Cause they're fkin guilty
There’s no pedophilia in these books. Stop buying into this bullshit.

You guys always do this and it's never convincing.

Pretending you're doing one thing when everyone knows you're really doing another.

It sure is! Definitely not mine. Is there any way I can ask you to stop lying about my beliefs that would get you to do it?

Then why can’t you be honest and stop calling me authoritarian if that’s what I believe then?

My clear statement: the public has a right to vote in elected officials that act in accordance with their will.

I believe that the decisions about what to carry in school libraries should be made by the relevant professionals.
And those relevant professionals should be supervised and directed by the school board which is elected by the community.

And what am I doing? Why would you want little kids to have access to stuff like this. I'm my opinion, it's very telling

This title is misleading. That's not what the the interview is about. And while I dislike Reid as she's a shit interviewer, the Moms For Liberty clown is on the opposite side of the same coin. She brings up "dildos, rape, and incest" repeatedly but fails to acknowledge that the VAST majority of books being challenged in these libraries don't include any of them.

Joy Reid should admit to posting the anti gays remarks she wrote; and defended 3 yrs later by claiming she was hacked, and apologize for them before she lectures anyone on LGBT kids.

Fact check: Bibles are allowed in schools and prisons

in schools? pretty sure you got that wrong..

Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for an argument.

Ya know what childrens movie has inter-family conspiracy with traitors commit murder against a ruler to gain totalitarian rule over an entire land?
Lion King

As already pointed out, Joy Reid and MSNBC are terrible. But it’s interesting the thread isn’t focusing on books like Maus, or the Illustrated Diary of Anne Frank, or Slaughtergouse Five, or many of the other books being banned. It’s an absolute lie that the objective of these banning is to ”protect the children.” Additionally, books like Gender Queer aren’t written or intended for kids, aren’t part of any school’s curriculum that I’m aware of, aren’t mandatory reading in any class, and are simply available in the library for the appropriate age group to read if they so choose. If you don’t want your kids reading it, parent your kids and don’t let them read it.

No idea if the books you're mentioning are included or not, but they're complaining about books in the school library; not the curriculum.

Think of it as the same reason that Newsweek is in the school library, but Playboy isnt.

Pretty defensive there.........
You falsely accused anyone who defends these books or criticizes these bans of being pedophiles. As one who defends some of these books, and criticizes these bans, shouldn’t a shit remark like that make me defensive?

But that’s the right wing playbook these days: do anything you can to alienate, ostracize, and remove resources from, people of color and LGBTQ people, and anyone speaks out to support them must be smeared and shamed: “communist, Marxist, socialist, pedophile, groomer,“ blah blah blah…
