Ilia Topuria the most unlikeable delusional fighter of all time? (HELWANI INTERVIEW)

I'm probably the biggest Holloway fan on this forum and I have done nothing but give Volkanovski his flowers. The fact that moosie is jumping through all these hoops to make Islam and Khabib the victims when the thread didn't even pertain to them is hilarious, lol.
That's his entire MO. Even in threads that have nothing to do with them.

Even if he dominates Volk this wasnt his best approach though villains help sell PPV Ilia is the man and didnt need to go that route. He's behaving in about the most obnoxious Floyd Mayweather manner as possible.

I think he will possibly win but you never wanna go all in and be a douche against a legend like Volk. Even Paddy knew to compliment Tony and play it off like there's no win win here if you beat the legend that is Tony Ferguson. I look forward to the fight tho

I mean Topuria TKOs volk next week. It's not like he's doing anything wrong. He is the champ.

Who won in the end tho? Was a brutal ko
You can pretend like that's all that matters, but I think you know that it's not a good look for something as cocky as Ilia to barely survive after going tooth and nail with a guy like Jai Herbert

I found it interesting that he thinks even a weightclass above there is no one as good as him....
he will find out quick once he challenges some LWs.

He needs that confidence. MMA is all about being confident in what you bring to the competition.

But yeah his act can come off as cocky and full of himself

Volk has become one of the most overhyped legacies in recent memory. He's a great champ but the way he was put up as a potential #1 goat was hilarious. The funny thing is everybody hated him when he was fighting Max, but Volk truly became the UFC baby face when he fought Islam. Anybody who becomes the main nemesis of the Khabib clan instantly gets a 10X boost on their legacy. That's why Oliveira was being hyped as the GOAT LW when he should be nowhere near that discussion (9 losses by stoppage, journeyman type numbers).
I think my opinion on Volk is typical for a lot of people. Didn't like him in the beginning because he wall and stalled Aldo, won a couple of boring/controversial decisions over Max.
I warmed up to him when he destroyed Max in the 3rd fight and then had a great showing against the LW champ (a very strong champ).

People loving Volk and Charles has nothing to do with some anti-Dagestan agenda. They would be beloved regardless. 90% of your posts is crying about people rooting for Volk and Charles over Islam. Islam is a great fighter but he has no personality and never fights.

Thanks. Everyday is a school day!

When I bring up Aldo the only thing people try to push is "strength of opponents" as if Aldo was fighting fuckin amateurs...smh.

Funnily enough Chad Mendes dropped Volk and that was towards the end of Mendes' career lol.

Oh well at least we know the truth sir.
strength of opponents is a funny one, Volk fought the same guy three times, and yes Max is a legend, but cmon. Then he fought Ortega and Yair. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say when their careers are done Ortega and Yair will be seen as mediocre contenders, not bad names on the resume but nothing to write home about. His best names are Aldo and Max, which are both really outstanding wins, but outside that it's thin.

Of all time is quite a claim. I assume he's trying to be some heel because that typically brings in viewers who want to see it blow up in hus face, but not sure the point of "I won't fight any contenders"

He's been saying for a long time once he's champ he's only fighting McGregor and possibly Suga Sean, he also wants Paddy.

I really don't care whether Islam has a personality or not, i watch fighters for their talent and i enjoy his fights. Fans like you act like these fighters are your Boyfriend,... who the fuck cares about their personality you're not dating them.

Max is my favorite fighter in the UFC and has been since day one, and I agree with you.
Considering the fact that most people thought Max won the second one, and Ortega damn near decapitated him.

He has a long way to go tbh sir.

Tbf I hate Colbys "persona", but more importantly I hate the way his fighting style is like "Anti-finish" lol

I like it, its arrogant as fuck, but he actually makes it funny, like when he said 'it will be an honour for him to share the octagon with me', I almost missed it he said it so matter of factly, or calling himself double champ lol. He just has that smug shit talking face that goes well with the cocky trash talk too

I think a lack of personality is no reason to not like a fighter, BUT, a deliberately negative personality where the fighter goes out of their way to be a piece of shit, that's fair game to want them to lose. But i can't understand people who root for fighters because they think they're charming, thats weird to me.

True...I never found Fedor, or Don Frye charming...I found them terrifying lol.

Which is all that mattered to me, but I'm old ;)

To be honest I think the UFC has a history of being able to sell villians or at least tweeners better than faces, GSP really was I think the only long term big draw who could qualify as that.

Pretty much everyone these days seems to be aiming at playing up those kinds of characters if they put effort into a persona anyway.

I wasn't talking about me or you though, I was talking about why people like Charles and Volk better than Islam and that anti-Dagestani agenda has little to do with it except for a few idiots.
Meh I like Islam just fine. But I liked Khabib better and his charisma, confidence and humor was a part of it. Wanna call me gay, fine. The reality is it matters to people, always has and always will.
