glad they included the carousel this time.

Well at least we have Austria next week. Hopefully Red Bull can at least be competitive on their home turf.

Do they sell beer or only wine? Most road courses have some options and it would be good to change the course every year. It got close at the end.

They sell everything I think. At least at the NHRA events. I went there for that two years ago and people were already drunk at 9am. Apparently in addition to beer and wine, they were selling Jack Daniels of all things. But maybe that's a different crowd and different policies. I know they have a big craft beer business going on there.

Yea, I really thought Kyle was gonna run him down.

The Formula One announcers were speculating on what could be done to make races more interesting. Christian Horner of Red Bull was saying they need to have more pit stops. It was suggested that the cars should have to run all three tire compounds. That would defeat the purpose of having the choices. The FIA assumed that cars would have to run the fastest, softest tires in qualifying to get into the final session. The cars that didn't make it into the fast 10 could start on harder tires and do a one stop race. The way it worked out is that the fastest cars can run faster on the medium tire than most cars can on the softest tire. That results in the fastest cars starting on the medium tire and changing to the hardest compound so they only have one pit stop and the slower cars don't gain the advantage that was anticipated. The fastest cars will be faster on all three compounds than the slower cars. The cars that handle best will be able to run longer on any tire.

It was assumed that the faster cars would wear the tires faster but the teams that can get more power out of their engines can add more downforce to their cars so they don't slide the tires as much. The cars with less power have to decrease downforce to gain speed but slide their tires more.

Even if they changed the rules so the cars had to start on the tires they set their fastest lap with in Q3 so the fast cars start on the softest tires, they might still be able to make it on one stop. If it did force them to make 2 stops, would it be enough to put them at a disadvantage to slower cars that stop once? The pit stop differential at most tracks is under 25 seconds. Cars that are a second a lap faster than the others on the same tire will be at least 2 seconds a lap faster on the softer tires so in a 50 lap race, they will be able to overcome the time differential by running on two sets of soft tires and one set of hard tires.

The fastest cars will have the best chance to win. Maybe if they set the starting grid by reversing the previous weeks finishing order or had the cars start in reverse order of their points to get more passing.

A brisk wind caused problems on the second F1 practice with Verstappen and Bottas crashing out of the session after holding the fastest times early. Vettel also went off but didn't hit the barrier. He was able to drive back to the pit on flat spotted tires. Leclerc had the fastest time on the soft tires followed by Bottas .33 slower on the medium tire, Gasly .40 sloweron the soft tire and Hamilton .44 slower on the hard tire. Vettel wound up 7th .78 slower.

THAt bottas crash was pretty bad. Vettel almost touched the wall too. Lets see tomorrow when cars are going for it.

I don't understand Ferrari using the soft tires on their first runs in Q2. It might put them in a 2 stop strategy with Mercedes starting on the medium tires. Leclerc on the poll, Lewis second, Verstappen third, Bottas 4th and Vettel starts 10th after having a problem at the end of Q2 and not being able to run in Q3. He still has to start on the soft tire.

Lewis with three place grid drop. FIA still doing what it can for Ferrari. Tyre strategy will come into play.

Formula One might have to split up qualifying to avoid one car getting in another's way, especially in first round. With 20 cars on the track, it can be difficult to keep track of where each car is and who is on a warm up, hot lap or cool down lap. Have the ten slowest cars in practice go out immediately at the start of Q1. Everybody waits to go out because the track gets dirty between practice 3 and qualifying. They should have street sweepers clean the track

Because of Magnussen having a grid penalty for taking more than the allotted number of parts, Hamilton will start fourth alongside Bottas. I suspect at least one of the Mercedes will do a one stop race. The Ferraris could use two sets of soft tires and a set of hard tires to try to maintain speed. A safety car is certainly possible after the way practice went. Who knows what will happen betweem Leclerc and Verstappen in the first turn. Verstappen has a chance to overtake Vettel in the points race as he's only 11 behind Vettel.

Another controversy over the win in Formula One. The Dutch might riot if they take the win from Verstappen. Verstappen didn't leave the track and come back on to push Leclerc off but he did make contact. Verstappen did have the lead in the corner. Hell of a drive after a poor start.

Great race from Verstappen regardless. I hope they dont take the win. F1 needs to stop penalizing everything and let them race if they want people to watch.

Edit: Max wins. Awesome race.

Lewis did pretty much park his car on the apex while Kimi was on his hot lap.

Points to Kimi for being Kimi flying by

It's just a very very short trackthis weekend and that's bound to happen, unfortunately.

Hamilton went off the track on the left side to get off the apex when he found out Kimi was coming on a hot lap but it was a little late and he crossed just ahead of Kimi.

Yeah, enough to throw him off. But Austria is such a short track it's hard to no get in someone's way

Did anybody watch Hailie Deegan on the Dale Junior Download? Dale and his sister Kelley talked with the 17 year old female racer who is racing in the K&N pro series. Hailie seems to have a great attitude about taking it slowly although she has been racing since she was 8.

She could benefit from racing for JR Motorsports but she's currently a Toyota Development Driver so she'll probably end up in a Gibbs car.

They were discussing women in racing and how Danica might have moved into Cup too soon. There was also talk about how Kelley and other women drivers work with crew chiefs who don't always listen to them. Here is a portion of the program.

In my view, Danica was rushed into Cup racing because her sponsor, GoDaddy wanted the publicity as a marketing tool to make GoDaddy a publicly traded company. Once they did, they dropped their NASCAR sponsorship.

There is another hurdle for female drivers. Most of the male drivers have started families during their careers. Female drivers would be taking quite a risk to drive while pregnant and would probably have to take parts of a season off.

Not that one particularly but Dale Jr has had some great episodes. Some really good stories in this one

“Dad! Straight away’d em’! You see that?!”<Lmaoo>

Working through the John Force episode now. I’m exhausted

Am I the only one who finds Claire Williams sexy as hell?

She even got her teeth fixed proper
