When they say it’s the most intensive job interview in sports, the prospects should treat this as such. They know going into the fight that the expectation is to be spectacular, or close to it as possible. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you absolutely have to finish opponent, however at least try and take the risks associated with with the intent to win by stoppage. The goal is to show the UFC that as a prospect you’re capable of being the type of fighter whose name could potentially bring eyes to the sport or card. She was willing to piss away her shot at the big show by employing a zero risk game plan, all after she had her opponent hurt, she showed no signs of a killer instinct. Even more egregious was the fact that she took basically took the violence or excitement factor out from the equation. I honestly think that if she would’ve continued to stand and bang, even to the extent of point fighting to a decision she probably would’ve earned the contract, but she decided to stall the fight outright. I honestly don’t feel any sympathy towards her, the blueprint to succeed is there, however she took the most conservative approach possible.

Needs more experience lol. Knuts literally has like 10x the amount of fight exp Reese. Fuck, she had almost double the amount of fight exp just tonight that Reese has had his entire career, including tonight's fight.

Not to mention, Knuts has been out there fighting decent regional comp. All her opponents have winning records except one who is 4-5 but had a winning one when they fought. Meanwhile, Reese's last fight before tonight was against a guy who was 4-10. 1/5 of his opponents before tonight had winning records. There's two on there that have 0 wins. Pretty easy to rack up quick finishes when you're fighting tomato cans.

Oh, and Knuts already fought on one of the Road to UFC cards and won that fight with complete ease as well.

I didn’t watch but WMMA is never gonna have finishes like the men. Kind of funny that Dana doesn’t take that into consideration

I get that they aren't equivalent, but my point was, they have some reason for bringing on people that they have no intention of signing. They make matches that can't possibly earn a contract.

This is going to come as a shock to some of you, but Dana isn't the kind of person that uses his mind for words or actions.
 
Because he doesn't care about experience. He cares about what sells. And what sells is finishes and exciting fights.
 
Dana recruits the same way for the UFC now as he does powerslap - if you are not showing up as a CTE fest with brain seepage that likes low pay, he doesn't want to see you.
 
I feel like he didn't want to give every winner a contract for the third week in a row and she got the short end of the stick.

With that being said, the roster is inflated enough and she didn't do anything special. I'm fine with his decision.
