Bas Ruten : pampampam pam pam
What does any of those things have to do with what Jon did in his first 13 UFC fights? Everything you mentioned as "bad" for Jon are fights and things that happened later in Jon's career, points at which Khabib never got close to as Khabib only has 13 UFC fights.im talking about just visually watching them fight.
Jones had great moments of dominance but also had moments of shakiness within a number of his fights. Khabib, although one could argue that he left too early, did not have too many moments that stick out where he was truly in trouble. Poirier got him into his worst spot.
Khabib only has 1 disputed decision (Tibau) amongst the fans while Jones has multiple.
Khabib also never had his title stripped due to doping. (there are of course theories about him doping but since he never failed a test, its just conjecture)
Jones also almost lost the title by DQ if not for Smith being too much of a stand-up guy for his own good.
ive already said Jones is better than Khabib overall in terms of records and stats, but in my opinion Khabib looked more dominant in a lot of his fights. Jones is very good everywhere; he was able to outsmart a lot of his opponents and then use his tools to act. but Khabib is a specialist so when he kept someone on the ground while beating them up it just looked like they couldnt do anything. made it seem much less competitive than Jones' fights.
full disclosure - i used to be a huge JJ fan like 10+ years ago but his behavior since then has completely turned me off as a fan and i am not one any longer. that doesnt change the fact that he still needs to be given his due as an objectively supremely talented fighter. one of the best the UFC has ever seen. im not some blind hater.
Jones failed PED testing all 3 times he was scheduled to fight DC, was pulsing for at least one known fight against a past prime Gus, and mainly fought MW sized opponents and past prime LHWs.
That fight doesn't disprove my argument, if anything it strengthens my point because Shogun's left ACL had blown out three times from 2007-2010 (with the third tear happening right before this fight).
I am a big fan of both fighters, but this isn't really close or should even be up for discussion
11 title defenses vs 3
Quality of opponents/ranked wins/number of champions or former champions beaten - Jones by a landslide
Jones beat a wider variety of elite fighters, Olympic wrestlers, BJJ black belts etc
Jones is more well-rounded and an exceptional striker as well as wrestler.
With that being said, Khabib is also an absolute, dominant legend, but I would put him in the Volk, Izzy, Aldo, Mighty Mouse tier rather than the top tier of fighters (GSP, Silva, Fedor)
It's not even a competition. If you believe Jones' PED-abuse disqualifies him, well, there you have it. Else, Jones' resume is in a different league compared to Khabib's.
Either way, deciding isn't difficult at all.
Ah not this again lol. Khabib is way behind even DJ "who Dana would never even dare mention". Jones probably actually is the GOAT but if somebody he didn't like had like 300 title defenses before leaving the UFC, Dana would pretend like they don't exist and slander them anytime their name is brought up.
If anybody at 125 gets a couple defenses that will be the 125lb GOAT to Dana.
Well, no shit, the man is 15-0-1 in title fights, a couple of dubious decisions but still...untouchable, single loss is a DQ of an ass beating, lets say Smith takes the DQ, thats still another DQ loss in a fight he was comfortably winning.
That fight doesn't disprove my argument, if anything it strengthens my point because Shogun's left ACL had blown out three times from 2007-2010 (with the third tear happening right before this fight).
And steroids will forever mark an asterisk on Jones' career.
Jones lost due to steroid use, lost definitely to reyes and had very close fights against gus 1 and santos that could've gone to them if they had star power in the ufc.
Compared to khabib that literally annihilated everybody there in the ufc and left like terminator leaving his second chinese copy islam to terrorize 2 divisions i believe he's the goat as islam's fights get transferred to khabib automatically.
fresh newbie 20% loaded khabib vs a veteran on steroids that used to send colby covington crying home when they trained yet still lost convincingly against khabib.
Actually jon Jones only failed one test that he was scheduled scheduled fight DC.Jones failed PED testing all 3 times he was scheduled to fight DC, was pulsing for at least one known fight against a past prime Gus, and mainly fought MW sized opponents and past prime LHWs.
