Whats really fucked up in the states right now is lack of testing. Fortunately, they have enforced a "shelter in place" order in areas like the Bay Area, but people are still oblivious to how serious this situation really is. My company is exempt, so I actually had to go into work today. We are looking at potentially cutting off to the public and just doing production and deliveries which I think is the best move just trying to get leadership on board.
There have been 8 confirmed cases in my county, but half are health providers. We only know that because they are tested since they are health providers, but no clue who they got it from and how it was able to spread to them, so it's out there already.
I got a bunch of food stocked up I'm down to lay low for weeks. People need to stay inside and minimize impact. This seems to have been effective in South Korea. Slow the spread of this shit so that the hospitals do not get overwhelmed all at once like is what is going on in Italy right now. They should also set up hospital backups in non-use buildings or build shit if they need to. We need more respirators. Need more people that are capable of giving care too.
As I'm typing this Trump just signed in effectively a UBI for citizens, paid sick leave, and free testing (when available). That shows how serious things are, Trump has gone MORE LEFT THAN THE LEFT. Unbelievable. Granted, I'll have to spend 1 hour getting into the specifics to see if we are actually getting fucked or not.
