My big stupid hype trains thread.

Reug Reug reminds me of a better time when these specialists would come into MMA and you'd get to see how well their style works.

Last guy I was this excited about was that Shan Sho dude in Strikeforce. God I'm the worst with proper names. Popped for PEDs in last fight. Really fun fights, throwing dudes all over the place.

*Edit* Cung Le

Dude needs to get a new manager, he is wasting is life waiting for a UFC call.
I've seen in recent interview Magomed Magomedov claimed that visa applications of Kerimov was denied and ACA offered good money and Kerimov and his team decided to stop wasting time.

Thats a shame. I wonder why some fighters get a visa without problems, while others are denied.

Man that's bullshit, wonder if his denial had anything to do with having worked for ACA with the Kadyrov link with the sanctions that have been going on.

#1 BS if that's the reason.

Magomedov, Yan, Yagshimuradov, etc. have fought for ACA, too and they all got visas, so I'm assuming that is not the reason.

Magomedrasul Gasanov

Country - Russia
Weight Class - Middleweight
Age : 26
Promotion - ACA
Record : 16-2

Gasanov extended his win streak to 12 at the weekend in claiming the ACA title with an easy win against a guy who'd been on a very good run of form in Nikola Dipchikov. Utterly dominant with wrestling, grappling and ground and pound as he repeatedly took down and wore out his opponent before finishing him early in the 2nd round. Looked like an absolute killer in there.

Can't wait for a unification fight with Salamu.

what do you think about Izuagbe Ugonoh? 18-2 as a pro-boxer and 1-0 as an MMA fighter. He will be fighting his 2nd MMA fight in KSW 60 against a 4-0 opponent.

Looked good in his debut, beat the guy with kicks weirdly enough IIRC.

Obviously he has top tier hands, plus he's one of Blachowicz's main training partners, so he's certainly getting quality training. He's actually too old for the list, but I've got my eye on him anyway.

Yes, he looks great but you are right, I forgot that he is already too old. Heavyweights can fight until their late 30's or very early 40's so he is still got like 5 years but it is still too late to start his career.

So this week we've got

ONE on Wednesday

#1 LW Christian Lee (22/USA/LW/14-3) in a very tough fight against Timofey Nastyukhin (31/Russia/LW/14-4)
Shuya Kamikubo (26/Japan/BW/11-1-1) against Mitchell Chamale

LFA on Friday
Carlos Candelario (29/USAFLW/7-0) Vs Yuma Horiuchi (23/Japan/FLW/7-3)

Open Fighting Championship on Saturday
Aleksandr Maslov (27/Russia/HW/6-1) Vs UFC veteran Luis Henrique

#8 HW Hugo Cunha (28/Brazil/HW/5-0) Vs 10-1 Oleg Popov
Ilya Freymanov (25/Russia/FW/7-1) Vs 7-2 Bakhytbek Duyshobay Uulu

Recifight 6 on Saturday (if I can get hold of it anywhere)
Daniel Oliveira (23/Brazil/BW/5-0) Vs Erisson Ferreira (29/Brazil/BW/10-1)

Promotion - FNG

Oh look, it's another Russian BW prospect! This guy dominated every second of a fight against a dude with a decent record, slammed him on his face at one point, showed good back control for a portion of the fight and then ultimately KO'd him with brutal ground and pound.

Very impressed.

Also from the same show but not quite getting a post yet.

Shamil Yakhayev (26/Belarus/LW/7-0), took his man down and just punched the fuck out of him while the ref just stood looking at it like a true Mario Yamasaki follower. Would like to see him against someone a bit better, but definitely interested.

I primarily watched the show to check out Nariman Abbasov, but I was actually really disappointed with him, even though he won.

Glad to see Hugo Cunha fighting again. it shouldnt be long before he is picked up by a major mma org.

Christian Lee

Country - USA
Weight Class - Lightweight
Age : 22
Promotion - ONE
Record : 15-3

One of the more obvious hype train posts I was going to do after a fight.

There can't be any doubt that Lee is the best LW prospect in the world anymore, in fact it may be time to consider that he might be the best LW outside the UFC full stop.

This time he decided to showcase excellent counter punching in taking out a dangerous opponent in Timofey Nastyukhin, who again had people thinking Lee was going to get beaten. That's consecutive dominant victories over Aoki, Dagi, Lapicus and Nasty, all he really needs is Eddie Alvarez and he's completely cleaned out the division.

Striking, grappling, finishing instinct, warrior spirit, this dude has it all. My only concern with him is that he's so central to ONE's plans that he might end up staying there, when to me if he beats Eddie he really needs to move on.

Although I am sure that the UFC would do whatever needs to be done to get him on board, this kid is a future superstar.

Still need to catch the OFC show.

Canderlario pulled out of the fight in LFA.

#9 HW Thomas Petersen (25/USA/HW/4-0) did what he needed to do against a poor opponent, but it's time to step up his competition really. Once he gets into side control on people it's a death sentence.

Roland Dunlap (28/USA/MW/2-0) got a scary finish and looks like a scary dude in general, but need to see more of him. Fights out of Roufusport.

Aaron McKenzie (32/USA/LW/10-2) is a Lovato prodigy who's kind of on the wrong end of the age scale for a prospect, but he has a decent run going and is usually in exciting fights. Only recent loss was a split to Chris Gonzalez who's looked impressive in Bellator lately. I wouldn't be opposed to him getting a contender series shot.
