Why do some fans not want fighters to get paid more?

Lol @ thinking ppv numbers and gates pay for events

Gate - 12-15% of total event revenue,
PPV - Commercial and residential, ~ 50% of total event revenue.

Many of us live in a free country where you get paid the market value; it is called capitalism. It is not perfect but the pros greatly outweigh the cons. A lot of people resent rich people and claim Capitalism is unjust. Many young folks believe Socialism is a better system, share the wealth equally..... others understand that Socialism sounds great in theory but has never worked and never will.

Bottom line...fighter pay should increase and it is increasing....significantly. If you feel fighter pay is unfair, research why Strikeforce failed. Strikeforce committed big $ into contracts with Fedor, Henderson, "Bigfoot" Silva, Arlovski, Barnett and others. The PPV #'s did not cover the fighters cost and the company went to shit.

The problem with Strikeforce is they were paying ufc type salary to fighters but weren't making UFC revenue. What about the fact UFC is only paying fighters like 20% of revenue while other major sports are paying about 50%?

Ari Emanual ceo of wme img got paid like $300mil last yr.

Most MMA fans hate the fighters. Like when I say hate I mean they despise them with the burning wrath of one thousand suns. Once you come to terms with this fact then the behavior of the MMA fan base will make a lot more sense

Might I have a counter question?

Why do you want UFC fighters to be paid more?

Are there ppl like this out there? No way

Whataboutisms?

UFC is run like WWE in their pay structure. If they can reach WWE level, that'd be a good goal for them.

Baby steps. It's good for the longevity of the sport.

because they´re sore losers and want everybody else to share their miserable paychecks/lives

It’s hard for me to care either way. They don’t give a shit what we make. Why should I care what they do

Seems weird that fans DON’T want fighters to get paid more.

Why does it bother them when people make threads about increasing fighter pay? Its not out if their pocket.

are they ufc shills?

do they just want UFC to be in control and dont want fighters being bigger than the brand?

I know you guys are out there. Explain yourselves.
Fighters should get paid more, yes that is true. But the constant threads about them every event isn't doing anything other than it turning into hate the UFC thread. Deep down, fans really don't care what they get paid, if they did they would be out at the Apex, Events, Meet & Greets holding up signs for higher pay for these fighters who are adults who made the decision to fight for a living in the first place knowing full well the pay & dangers of it. If they wanted a steady paycheck with benefits then they can join everyone else who is getting by in the workforce.

Fighters already get paid better than most people on the planet, only reason they're broke is because most of them are not very good with money management in the first place, Diego for example made good money but he got taken advantaged of by family, friends & trainers & everyone blames the UFC for his misfortune.

With that said the fighter pay threads are tiresome & no one really cares about how much they made. Instead worrying them, you worry about yourself and tend to your own garden.

I watch the MMA to be entertained not to feel sorry for how much they make whilst doing so.

Their own fault if not being paid enough that they feel they’re worth. All reputable sports league have collective bargaining.

When fighters delivery, Dana is usually generous. Im fine with that.

The most important thing is that the UFC is sustainable and profitable, that what keeps the sport alive.

It's not that I don't want them to be paid more, it's just that I don't care, man. Boxing has plummeted dramatically with boxers sitting out for more than 2, 3, or 4 years, and probably they can afford to sit out for the rest of their life. Even now in the UFC, fighters are rank squatting, waiting for special needs to be met... It's selfish, but I don't want that to happen to MMA. Maybe they should form incentive-based contracts where the first fight in a year pays 100k, the second pays 300k, the fourth pays 700k, and so on. I don't know, man.

Your "market value" to a near monopoly middle man? You don't know shit about capitalism.

A bold statement with profanity, nice. The response of a internet tough guy incapable of an intelligent question or counter argument.

The richest countries in the world practice Capitalism. Being poor is relative, the poor in the US still have a reasonable level of living with vs the poor in socialist counties.

It's a recent development that capitalism has become a prevalent system worldwide, and it correlates well with the reduction of global poverty. The biggest story of the last hundred years or so is how many fewer people are poor or living on a subsistence level than in previous centuries. Capitalism is by no means the only force responsible for this change, but it is one of the major ones.

There are some good reasons to criticize or even hate capitalism, but the global poverty level is not one of them. Neither is millionaire athletes being paid less than they deserve.

I'll come back to this today or next week, just wanted to let you know that i'm not purposely ignoring any one you two.
<You11>

I've been watching MMA for quite a while. I simply don't care. If the fighters were truly bothered by it, they wouldn't sign & they wouldn't fight. But they fight on.

We're tired of it because it has been brought every week for over a decade. What new are you bringing to the table?

The UFC has been around for like 30 yrs. What do you mean baby steps? The height of WWE was in the 90s, which was like 20 yrs from when Vince bought it from his dad. I'm willing to bet UFC is worth more than WWE right now.

Probably because it costs a lot of money to watch a PPV and despite the price going from once $55 to $85 over the years. Fighters still haven’t been paid more. When every fighter is making a million a fight the prices will be even higher for us. The UFC only cares about maximizing profits.

It's not anything against fighters getting paid more.

It's because those threads often come across as pointless virtue signaling posts, where thread starters can feel better about themselves by saying mean things about the #1 MMA Org, while the thread starter is not actually doing anything that brings real value.
