I think the main problem with 105 is it's spread out between too many different organizations, and none of them really have enough fighters to put on quality fights on a regular basis. If one or 2 orgs could scoop up most of the good fighters and start putting on regular matches for the North American audience, I bet the UFC will open up their wallet and get serious about their own 105 division.

I think for the most part it's only three organisations really. If you could get hold of the ONE, RIZIN and Invicta girls then you've got the majority.

I think getting the ONE girls would be a problem though. I do think they'd love to have Angela Lee as a champ (if she could actually make actual 105).

But yeah for AW if you can get Angela Lee, Hamderlei, Izawa, Zamboanga, Delboni, Decoursey, LVZ, Hirata, Stamp, Park, Radzuan, Svetkivska, Rena, Smashley, Pereira and Adriene then that's the basis of a decent division imo.

Probably Tecia, Lookboonmee and a few others could drop from 115 too.

it would be kinder to say that robertson is a bjj specialist (much in the same way dern is)

Well, I mean, yeah she is. But Gillian's main issue is still that she's physically weaker than almost everyone she fights, which is a real problem when you're looking for takedowns. I'd call Gillian a better technical wrestler than Dern (in terms of set-ups and excecutions and such) though Dern's footwork is so woeful its difficult getting any proper wrestling going when your that ungainly. But Dern still has the upside of being an... average athleat? (by standard of her peers) which allows her to go for the sort of a physical hustle that constituted her later takedowns vs Xiaonan.

You think a drop to 115 would fix that?

ONE is just a strawweight division being called an atomweight division.

Deep Jewels is the main promotion in japan with atomweight. Produced Izawa, Park, a numbere of foghters who fought for RIZIN.

Also, Combate Global is doing things with their division. Hopefully they'll finally book Ana Palacios vs Clair Lopez for the inaugural title. SOme others there worth keeping an eye on. Honestly,

A lot of those have never made atomweight, and likely can't. Maybe if UFC were to create their own division at like 110, maybe, but they're not gonna do that. Too close to 115.

This weekend: https://www.combateglobal.com/comba...r-friday-october-7-live-on-univision-and-tudn

"A women's flyweight (125lbs) contest will see Aitana Alvarez (2-3) from San Sebastian, Spain, return to La Jaula, Combate Global's competition cage, for the third time this year, when she takes on Gillian." Valkyrie» Noll (2-2) of Post Falls, Idaho."

"In a women's strawweight (115 pound) bout, kickboxing expert Damaris Olivares (0-0) of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain will make her MMA rules debut against Diana Sanchez (0-0) of Bellingham, Washington."

You think a drop to 115 would fix that?

Don't know. Size is traditionally more important for grapplers than strikers. But we can't really know how a potential drop would affect her in other ways (cardio and pace and durability and such). Not to mention if a weight-drop is even possible.

One has some atomweights in their atomweight division but it is not an atomweight division. For example, Seo Hee Ham, Bi Nguyen(When she was in One) and I think Mei Yamaguchi(JWMMA experts correct me if I am wrong) are real 105ers who don't cut weight. Then you have them in the same division as fighters like Tiffany Teo and Angela Lee who are big 115ers who cuts weight. So whenever I am talking about divisions outside of One I consider Angela Lee a 115er. No chance she ever actually makes 105.

Alycia Helen Rodrigues (or whatever her married name is now) is back:

Translation: come on in
Come one and all

I am sure she does a lot of things between fights since she fights so infrequently. I am a fan of hers(I mean she is my profile pic) but she needs to be kept far from the belt.
Matchmakers will probably deny Rose the chance to be 3-0 vs Chinese fighters since Yan called her out.

Thought this was interesting. Apparently John Danaher thinks Chook can become champion.

I need to watch the entire thing, because this short clip doesn't say anything about Chookagian being able to beat Valentina.

As good as Katlyn is, I think it's very unlikely she beats Shevchenko. She'll probably beat everyone else in the division, including Santos and Fiorot, but doesn't have the physicality to bully Valentina (which has proven to be the most likely way to beat her, with a strength and size advantage).

Regardless, a few years from now I hope that people look back at Chookagian's career, and give her the respect she deserves. Her resume is very, very good.
