The worst was in the election fraud threads. Chuds kept trying to justify believing nonsense by saying liberals did the same thing with Russia. Then I would always post this from The Republican led Senate Intel Committe:

"It is our conclusion, based on the facts detailed in the Committee's Report, that the Russian intelligence services' assault on the integrity of the 2016 U.S. electoral process[,] and Trump and his associates' participation in and enabling of this Russian activity, represents one of the single most grave counterintelligence threats to American national security in the modem era."

Oh, boy. They would lash out, give some diatribes, run away. Never actually addressed it head on. 2 days later, "You can't criticize us for claiming election fraud because you guys believed in the Russia Hoax!"

Calling this "essentially child pornography" is a stretch in my opinion, but I can't really argue with sacking the school board that chose this book. If you didn't do the research to find out this thing has stuff in it that's wholly inappropriate for kids in your school, you didn't do the bare minimum research required. Looked the book up myself and the fact that it's aimed at adults and contains prompts that wouldn't be suitable for kids in a school setting was pretty easy to find through a few Amazon reviews without ever looking at the prompts inside. If they didn't buy a copy and look through it themselves before assigning it to a high school course, yeah, that's incredibly negligent when it comes to the duties of their job.

However, I also want to add, I'd rather people not play this "Resign or we'll have you charged" game. If they did something worthy of being charged with a crime, charge them, period. Shouldn't be letting people off the hook with crimes just because they resigned from the job they'd lose if they were convicted anyway. If it wasn't worthy of charging them, then go through the process to have them fired/removed, you clearly have cause to do so via the fact this happened at all.

The mayor has no authority over the school board. He's just grandstanding. The school board president said none of them plan to resign - they called his bluff. Lo and behold, none have been arrested.

They can't be charged with a crime - child porn! - for giving high school seniors a book of creative writing prompts, some of which dealt with sexual matters, none of which were even used in the curriculum. That's INSANE.

It was a book full of hundreds of writing prompts, for 17 year olds taking a college credit course, in conjunction with a local college. Some of the prompts dealt with sex; none were used in the class. That's slow rot? Vile and despicable behavior? Really? The book had great reviews on Amazon. About 8 1 star reviews out of 1300 until this story broke. Why was it taught for 6 years? What about the teachers who actually ran the courses?

I look at conservative media and have to wonder if people are stupid enough to believe the stories, or racist enough to not care because it gives them cover to be openly racist fighting the "tyranny of liberal insanity".

There was a coordinated blitz of media coverage based on footage of conservative activists staging nonsense performances in school board meetings, and all of a sudden it's OK to attack any curriculum that questions the awesomeness of being white.

CRT has been around for decades but if you look at Google Trends almost nobody cares until March of 2021, it reaches its panic highs in June as right-wing media obsesses and now it has died down significantly. Guess it doesn't matter anymore. Maybe it went to Atlantis with the migrant caravans.

Someone like Ben Shapiro isn't a stupid guy. Some others are pretty intelligent people as well. Tucker Carlson isn't actually a dumb guy. They're just grifting. The Stephen Crowder types are probably dumb enough to legit buy into it all.
