Boar/Pig/Hog hunting calibers

Been a rough few weeks, hoping to go out this week at least once or twice. But fuck me life gets in the way.
Picked up a 30-30 lever action keen to test it out.

A 30-30 sounds 10 times more comfortable than the 45-70 I got.

Picking up a .44 Magnum lever action in a few weeks as well. Simply for the fact that on this one I can easily mount a Torch, red dot/reflex sight and bipod or any other accessories really. One of these
For night hunting having a spotlight on my gun will make things easier after I ID them with the thermal from the safety of my tree. As of late I've had to go out a few times by myself and juggling the spotlight and the 30-30 was not an easy task. So I looked for something a little bit more modular. Not sure about the big loop though.
I'm thinking 240g Federal JHP rounds should do the trick, but if guys like @RerouteToRemain or @Chesten_Hesten have any input for .44 rounds I'd love to hear it.
Rifle is a Rossi Citadel 92. I understand Rossi isn't the greatest brand around but its not like I'll be putting thousands of rounds through it, hell it'll be lucky to get 25 a year put through it (the way my hunts have gone lately)

Not me I've no smarts about 44 mags in rifle form. Hope it shoots good.
Ammowise:
Anything ought to do it.

How many guns is this for those hogs now?

They're getting expensive per hog capita!

30-30
44 mag on the way
and potentially a 6.5 Creedmore for after the burnoffs go through and there is no longer anymore grass for the piggies to hide in

Heading out this weekend. There is one final piggy coming up on the cameras and I wanna get that bastard.

While there are still a shit tonne of pigs in the area, the farmers are between crops so there is no reason for the pigs to migrate through to the crops each night. So my parents property is essentially cleared for now once this last pig goes to piggy heaven.

Went out last night. With a neighbour of my parents, he had a 12 gauge I had the 30-30. We stumbled across 3 pigs right as we were running out of sunlight and heading back to the ute (truck) to stake out the bait.
The grass is close to 5ft high now, the pigs came out of a bush next to us about 6 feet from us. We could see the grass moving but only glimpses of the pigs (think Jurassic Park: The Lost World raptors in the grass scene), I could see one heading towards the utes direction and fired a shot as it came into one of the small clearings before it made it into the dry creek. I heard it squeal while my friend fired at another pig running behind us (he missed fucking grass). We went down to the creek (rather hastily) I had hit the pig, in the hind leg (not a nice shot hind leg was nearly blown completely off) and it had flipped about 5m down into the creek bed, I'm not sure if it was dead or unconscious at that point, so I got my friend to shine his guns light down there and I put a shot into its head causing it to spasm a bit then stop moving.
It wasn't a huge pig maybe 90lbs, it was covered in ticks, I'm not sure how these pigs are surviving that many paralysis ticks on them.

Any update on hunting expeditions in the land down under? @Woldog
Few weeks ago me and a buddy killed 5 larger ones. Using a 30-30 Lever Action and a straight pull 12 gauge.

It's hit and miss though, as my parents property is a kind of stopping point between the farmers field and where the majority of pigs live. So occasionally we get a few that move in but mostly it's catching them as they pass through.

Here wild pigs usually are 50-90 kg, however might be even 250kg.

Usually they use these calibers:
7,62*51, 7,62*54, .300 H&H Magnum, .30-06, 0.300Winmag, .338Lapua Magnum,
9*53, 9,3*62, 9,3*64, 9,3* 74.

Smoothbore: 12 gauge with 70 mm or 76 mm cartridges ( 3 inch now are more common than 70mm ).
version A: smoothbore bullet, it will be 28-40 gram bullet.
version B: slugs ( pellets ) in container, then 1 cartridge will have 8-12 " pellets " with 7,5-8,5-9 mm diameter.
Now with these environment protection campaigns these " pellets " are available also made from steel, coated with copper.

338 Lapua? How far are the ranges you guys hunt at there?

wild pigs with riffled barrels weapons? Usually distances are like from 10 till some 250-300 meters.

With .338 Lapua there is a bit different reason: some guys have this as weapon for 3 purposes, like 3 in 1 : long range shooting training, SD weapon in rural areas and 3 rd application: these pigs, elk ( moose ) , deer is rare exclusive prey here: even elk is with limits and licensed.
